That was one big mess of fried seafood! Looked good. So awesome your family came to greet you at the Baxter State Park and that you got to zero with them. Your videos have been top notch. Thanks for taking us along on this incredible journey.

Thank you for taking the time and energy to blog your journey and share your faith. Taking a zero before you summit is a good thing. On my 2015 thru hike at 58 yr old I went from Abol bridge to the summit and back so my wife could hike the last mountain with me. My 85 year old dad flew from Atlanta with her. Cherish the moment. It’ll take a while for it to all sink in. Congratulations.

So glad your family is going to be there to watch your triumph! I'll bet you enjoyed those snacks -- and enjoyed that bottle of DEET! The mosquitos will just eat you alive. Maine: Bogs & Bugs, Roots & Rocks, and High River Crossings! Hopefully you had a good rest day.

I feel for you Big T. In 2020, the weather was much dryer and I was there at the end of September with beautiful fall colors and no bugs. A much different feel. Katahdin is a big climb but a wonderful experience. I've been up there 5 times. Enjoyed each time including hiking up with my daughter in the outskirts of a hurricane. That would be some ride down that raging river in a tube. The seafood platter looked awesome! 5 days through the 100 is great. Nice to have family with you for the summit day.

So glad you are taking a zero tomorrow to rest and dry those feet! You are an inspiration. Summiting with your “boys” will be extra special and I am sure emotional. I know you are done as we watch this, so hoping you are finding peace in the finality of all you have accomplished. I have enjoyed taking this journey along with you. ❤

I would like to see and after hike video about all the hostels and other places you stayed. I have section hiked most of the trail and at near 80 I have a target on being the oldest but we will see. I am physically able but am not sure I am mentally able and a bed would help that. Your videos are the best I have ever seen showing the trail. The logistics of staying in hostiles is what I see as the problem. I did the hundred mile wilderness without getting my feet wet crossing streams 2016.

Thank you Big T for taking us on this journey with you. So many emotions hit you when you realize your hike is almost over. This is a once in a lifetime accomplishment and something you will reflect back on at some point almost every day. You will gain a lot of weight back after this hike. Your legs are strong, but your upper body will be weak for the next several months. I look at it as if you have been stranded on an island, kind of like a shipwreck survivor. The best thing is your family was there to meet you! I like that. Enjoy your time with your sons. Looking forward to the big finish. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Maverick71~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I lived in Maine for 35 years and I camped in BSP OFTEN. I found that applying the repellent heavily to both sides of your cap bill helped to keep them away from your face. Nothing works 100% on them and the black flies. If you have to be stationary a head net helps a lot and a campfire works well in the evening.

Was thinking I hope he isn't doing his summit alone. So glad your surprise was company for the end. Excited to see the finale! Thank you for these last couple of days of two a day videos. I'm sure you are glad not only to be home but to be finished editing every day.

Quite a dinner - you earned it and many more. Climb that last hill and take some time for yourself with family and friends. And yes, those words in the Penobscot/Eastern Abenaki language are quite foreign and difficult for us who are unfamiliar with the local turf and place names. But remember, "There are no foreign lands - it is the traveler only who is foreign."(Robert Louis Stevenson). Wli Bamkanni, Tom Lister. Be well, stay safe and, as my old friend, the late Frank Mele would have said, "Have a care."

WHAT? You ate a plate of fried clams and want to do Katahdin? Older guy here with a huge antacid habit and I wouldn’t make it out of the parking lot. Looking forward to the season wrap up. And a little sorry to see it end.👍

Funny a week or so ago I was thinking ahead with your journey and my pick for the day of finish line was Sunday. What a journey. Just started watching a young man Sobo he started in June I watched him do Katadin it’s unbelievable! He had to skip the 100 miles because of the flooding and mud. Summer of mud in VT NH and Maine. Awful.
