The SME without removable headshell is indeed the better variant... Nice rebuilt of the 150..........It was my first TT in 1972 ( with a Shure M55E )...........I have one to restore .

As i told before i find the AT33PTGII sound excellent, but i prefer the warmth of the Shibata sound, this one is too cold for my tastes, almost......medical. :D

Well, I prefer the EV, which is the more balanced of the three in my opinion. However, I'm hoping that the PTG will get better over time.

@@HiFisquarepants I really don't find the PTG to be that bright. It does take time to break in, but after that, it's the best bang for the buck that I've found. The ART-9 does sound more refined in the highs, and otherwise just sounds better, but the one friend I had that used it had a lot of tracking issues with the ART-9, even with a linear tonearm. Very strange, and a damn shame since it sounded so damn good otherwise. The Sa seems brighter and picks up more noise than the PTG, and the EV just lacks that extra bit of clarity. Probably is a matter of pairing, though, as the rigs that I've used haven't been suspended tables (ie: VPI Scout Jr, Technics 1210GR, Michell TecnoDec), and thus have a "darker" sound overall that may just provide a better balance with the PTG.

@@packgrogMy ART9XA needed very thorough alignment and quite a bit of break-in time to really track well. Out of the box, tracking wasn't as good as it should be. Now that it has been used for about 120 hours, it's a marvelous cartridge with a very special sound, only bettered by the Umami Red and maybe the Hana MH. On the PTGii, I don't think it's overly bright either, and I strongly believe that it will get smoother over time. But, yes, in my system, it leans toward the bright side.

I'm very happy with my AT-OC9XML. I know the specs aren't as good as the 33 but I'm not that concerned with that, and it sounds great to me in my system. I like Earl Klugh, and that was a nice recording, but the screechy vocals on that song ruined it for me.

I guess it all depends on the rest of the system, settings, personal preferences, etc. I've owned the OC9iii and the OC9MLii, and I borrowed the OC9Xsh (kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6qrf3eKeJeVmaM). They sound great, but I still prefer the sound of the 33 series by a slight margin :) Oh yeah, those vocals are not pleasant 😅

Hola Iván 😊 A mí me funcionó aceite de silicona 750.000 CST. Llené todo lo que pude y luego retiré el excedente que rezumaba. Quizás 750000 es demasiado denso, pero es el que tenía en casa y me ha funcionado. Suerte! 🙂

Hello Francisco, I have an AT33 PTG2 on my Technics SL1210 Mk2 and I also find it outstanding how well the pickup tracks. I've tried higher-priced ones, but always got stuck with the AT. How much money do you have to spend to get even better quality and which pickup would you choose?
