ATACMS "mow down" Russian S-400s in Crimea as more serious attacks are underway

Ukraine is actively using ATACMS missiles to destroy Russian targets in temporarily occupied Crimea. Including enemy S-400 systems.
Forbes writes about this . For example, in mid-May, the Ukrainian military fired a powerful salvo of 10 American-made missiles at the Russian Belbek base near Sevastopol in occupied Crimea. The strike caused considerable damage to the occupiers - photographs from the ground confirmed that a radar and two launchers of the S-400 anti-aircraft battery were destroyed. The missiles were also reported to have damaged four military aircraft at a nearby military airfield.
It is not surprising that the Russians quickly replaced the destroyed S-400 components, but not so long ago Ukraine struck the S-400 battery in Belbek. Unidentified munitions, likely the same M39A1 ATACMS, also struck two other air defense batteries nearby: another S-400 and a shorter-range S-300.
“At least 10 ATACMS missiles were used during the strike, and the Russian air defense system was unable to intercept any of them,” the Ukrainian Center for Defense Strategies said.
It was noted that two radars were destroyed - one each from the S-300 and S-400 batteries. The information from the third radar was clarified.
Belbek becomes an attrition trap for the best air defense system of the Russian Aerospace Forces. Ukraine is destroying fresh missile batteries approximately as quickly as they can be deployed, the publication writes. The Russians have already lost two S-400 command posts, four radars and 16 launchers, which Oryx analysts can confirm.
"In total, the Ukrainian missile raids may have destroyed parts of four or five S-400 batteries. Ironically, the S-400s were designed as anti-missiles, but apparently they do not work. The Russian Aerospace Forces have more 50 S-400 batteries. But the batteries are useless for Russia's military operations in Ukraine if they cannot withstand Ukrainian missile attacks. The more S-400s the Russians deploy in Ukraine, the more S-400s they are likely to lose,” he emphasizes. Forbes.
Some Russian observers fear that much more serious attacks are coming. If the Ukrainians follow the American strike doctrine, then air defense batteries are attacked first. After this, “aviation based on the F-16, under the wings of which there is a wide range of ammunition,” will come into play, one of the Russian bloggers said.
“The first F-16s - former Danish models - should arrive in Ukraine in the coming weeks. Don’t be surprised if the fighters quickly begin striking Russian bases in Crimea. Bases whose air defenses are constantly weakening under barrages of ATACMS missiles,” the publication summarizes.

Ukraine is losing, the west needs to wake up to reality, these videos show nothing in regard to the actual state of the war, Russia is advancing on all fronts and at a decent pace, Ukraine is short on men and people are fleeing the incoming conscription, western nations are politically weak and their economies are going to take a decent hit from the end of the petrodollar deal, doesn’t matter how much money and equipment is waste fully sent to Ukraine if they don’t even have the manpower to use the equipment or the infrastructure and capacity to upkeep this equipment in a war zone. I say all this as a US patriot that WANTS Ukraine to win but we must be honest with ourselves and look at the state on the ground, and the state right now is that Ukraine is losing badly and facing a very grim and bleak future, we’re approaching the point where Ukraine breaks and falls to the Russians or the west has to physically get involved in the war and we send our own troops to fight, that’s the reality that we’ll be facing in the near future if Ukraine doesn’t change its course which given the circumstances and realities, that will be extremely difficult. Also there’s nothing brilliant about what the Ukrainians and Zelenskyy are doing, yes Zelenskyy has done his best to get the nation support but the Ukrainian military has shown extreme bouts of incompetence throughout this whole war and its even worse now due to the fact that most men fighting now are barely trained recruits being thrown into combat because they don’t have better men to send nor the time and ability to train them on anything other than the absolute basics.

i think part of this is due to the elected official cycle. yes we have our own senators that just sit there but enough people cycle through the system and that keeps everything running. the ussr oligarchs knew that it was all just a game and never cared. our long sitting senators knew too, but the constant cycle of fresh blood made them stay atleast partially honest.

NATO is actually learning a lot from this proxy war against Russia, and Ukraine is doing a great job of applying the Western doctrine to the letter--that is, take out the air defenses first, and then send in the F16s. Other than the Israelis, no other country has more experience in taking out air defenses than the U.S.

JDAM's do not have a range sufficient to strike batteries in Crimea from same distances. The F16's would have to cross wel into Russian held territories to strike batteries in Crimea. And F16's are much easier to hit than ATACMS ballistic missiles.. I think the F16 wit drop the JDAM's on Russian near frontline positions from 50km behind the front where they are save from Russian batteries. The F16's might close in to confront Russian planes and fire long range AMRAAM AIM-120C or AIM-120D missiles (not sure if they get the 120D variant) To attakc enemy batteries the F16 might do wild weasel runs using HARM missiles to strike the radar systems. Those seem much more effective than JDAM's against mobile air defence targets for sure. )

F-16 would use AGM-88 to destroy the S-400. If Ukraine can get the newer F-16CJ version for SEAD missions, that would be ideal.

Almaz Antey, the manufacturer of the S400 made the claim that the S400 would "Swat HIMARS missiles from the sky like walnuts from a tree." Then when it goes onto the battlefield it doesn't perform nearly as well as the hype said it would. Before this war, so many were saying the S400 was the best air defense system in the world. On what did they base such an assumption when it had never been tested on the battlefield? The only evidence of it being the best air defense system in the world was Pooty SAYING it was the best air defense system in the world. But, according to Russia, everything Russian is the best in the world. Maybe thats why Russia is down to using T62 tanks they drug out of museums that were built in the 60's.

Russia had about 500-600 S-300 batteries and 50-70 S-400 batteries where a battery has one command unit, one or two radars and 2-8 launchers with 4 missiles each.. Optionally these batteries have short range mobile missile support vehicles like Strela-10 Losing a few batteries is annoying but won't hurt them that much. Ukraine does not have enough ATACMS to take out all Russian batteries or even put a big dent in them. They might focus on S-400 batteries only as those have the best radar systems
