After 30 years I am still playing on my 65xe and I love it :)

You're my vintage? It's not a great jump from electronic circuits to a 6502, so this channel teaches about an important link in understanding computer science. Way to go! A friend of mine and I wrote GREDITOR, a very sophisticated graphics editing tool. We originally wrote it to hack games, but it was a fun, albeit long, tool.

I still have some of my old Atari equipment but not all. I started with an 8k Atari 400 with the mylar keyboard. then 800, 800XL 256K-800XL 130XE, 1088k-1030XE Mega ST Mega4Ste. I miss my ICD upgraded 1040 130k Floppy to 256k Floppy with ultra speed sector scue. Then there was Assembly Language, BXE and BXL, Omnimon and OmniView. We stacked 256k 60ns dynamic RAM 4 high and stacked the operating systems too. Mostly I worked on Telecommunications because of my Atari BBS from 4-8-84 until 2004 at that time running on WildCat 5. Also ran the national concentrator for the ISIS Atari network. Ran Fidonet too. Those were the days. I still have the ROMS for Drives 5-8 from ICD for the 1040 drive.

or not... I just opened my electronic storage box and the ICD drive 5-8 roms are missing. I am still looking. Perhaps someone would love them when I find them.

My first computer was an Atari 400 until it died and then I had the 800xl. I love the Atari 8bit line. So I just bought a 130xe and Miner 2049'er. First game I ever completed 😊

Brilliant, never seen that before, where someone buys a load of old hardware specifically for a new KZbin channel. Usually, people already have the hardware for a long time and then decide to make a channel around it. But you went and bought all the old stuff from scratch. I'd love to do the same thing and get my old computers to play with, but I lack the space and spare time. Nice to see someone else doing it.

I think you should purchase some old hardware and have some fun! Thanks for watching.

I was born in 1983. my older brother gave me 130 times in 1988 atari. I still have it, unfortunately due to a power failure it stopped working. Nep basic or test will run. Only blue screen :( in my opinion it's a very good machine for learning and the amazing games I played on it ... of course I also had the original atari joystick 7800. floppy disk drive and cassette with turbo: D then after the creation of the American protectorate (Czechoslovakia 1989) I went to a computer interest group and there were again DIDAKTIK GAMA. In fact, I'm a lover of old honest technology.

Just discovered your channel, thanks for your great videos. in 2019 I purchased a new old stock 130XE unopened from a seller in Poland. I'm currently setting up a computer lab with retro computers, and I'm looking forward to using the 130XE along with the SIDE2. Being a Commodore 64 user from release, the Atari line is a complete mystery to me.

Loving your channel and content, Rick. I'm an Atari newbie, having been a Commodore guy back in the day. However, I've just got my hands on boxed 65XE in mint condition and am really looking forward to getting into the system. I'm getting a lot of inspiration from your hard work here, so you'll be joining me on my Atari journey. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the video... Unfortunatelly I sold my 130XE in the 1990s... But now I use the Altirra :) and hope to be back with assembler... just realized that after the years I am again almost beginner with the 6502

That's ok, it's never too late to get back into it and enjoy what the 6502 and the Atari are capable of. Thanks for watching!

Just discovering your channel. Thank you for this. You deserve more subs. E: I find it odd that all vids from YT are loading fine but yours are buffering considerably...and I dont think it's your fault.

0:00 Quake 1 and Quake 3… no love for Quake 2? 4:23 You probably need to hide your face to make the video camera focus on the printout, since they'll usually focus wherever they can detect a face. 8:51 It looks like a Spyderco except for the logo. 9:32 Seems like a terrible spot for the BREAK key. The RETURN key's in a bad spot, too. With the graphic characters on the fronts of the keys, it looks like somebody was copying off of Commodore! 10:50 The video port apparently offers separated Chroma and Luma, so you should be able to make an S-Video cable. 11:05 It seems odd that the ROM port is so much wider than the general bus-expansion port.

Lol yes Quake 3 is my go to... Are you referring to the Spyderco in my pocket?

The narrow Expansion port would make sense if it were meant to be used in combination with the ROM port, where the ROM port would provide the Address and Data lines and the Expansion port would supply extra control lines for I/O chips and maybe a few more Address lines.
