@@AtariCrypt You know all these games, I'm trying to reach the people who have never given the ST a shot or who won't give its due are the first great 16bit games machine.

Never played the full version of Harlequin (yet!) -- I only had a cover disk demo of it. But man, that Barry Leitch level 1 theme has stuck with me for 30 years! The man's a musical genius.

It's a rally well made game and the music is fantastic.

For me is without any doubt the best game I played in my ST back in the day. It is little known as it was published in 1992, when the plattform was on decline. And I finished it 18 years later. Yes, the music is superb, as all the aspects of the game.

04:35 one of my all time ST favorite games! ;) Cool video dude!

Rvf Honda and Lotus Esprit have been my favourite "newer" racinggames for the Atari ST. Swiv and Ik+ are also in the "major league" of atari ST Games. Panza Kickboxing had superb gfx but was not sooo great to play. Never heard of voodoo nightmare or Videokid before, will check them out maybe. Thanks for the video!

After that… great video. SWIV, Harlequin, Dread, IK+, First Samurai, they are absolute wonderful gems. And regarding Video Kitd, Elvira and The Killing Game Show, in this 3 cases I think the same: technically impressive games, with fantastic graphics, scroll and music, but the gameplay… I don’t know, something doesn’t work after the 1st five minutes playing.

Some of these I love playing a lot and some impress me technically. I agree with your assessment.

Interesting video, thanks! Nice parallax scrolling on Elvira - never seen it before but quite technically impressive. It's rare to see true overlapping parallax like that on the ST. Also look like First Samurai might be doing something clever to give the impression of more colours in the sky gradient - look at the way it flickers on the emulator.

Sometimes Hatari doesn't get the Timer B Interrupt Sync correctly in the palette changes. Good catch. Next time I'll be sure to reset it and check and or use Steem.
@gridleaderretro3 жыл бұрын
@@IntoTheVerticalBlank I have a feeling it might be trying to create intermediate shades in the sky gradient by quickly switching between two very similar colours. Probably looks ok on real hardware but all the videos of this game being emulated seem to show the same artifact :)

🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖 At the era of Amiga/Atari ST I still had 8-bit Atari as I couldn't afford to buy any better computer. (And that's why I have some videos about 8-bit games on my small channel 😜). Nice to see what I missed. Although basing on my limited experiences I would say that in most applications Amiga was better than Atari ST.
@IntoTheVerticalBlank3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Amiga was / is an incredible machine. This isn't a compare of course, it's just to highlight the ST at the best of its abilities. I had an 8bit Atari too. From 1983 until 1987 and then got the ST to for school work and play RPG games. It was so far advanced compared to the all 8bit computers as far as computing and software...not scrolling and sound =)

@@IntoTheVerticalBlank Yeah, sure, I know that it isn't a compare. A good friend of mine had Atari ST at that time so I had pleasure to play it a bit. It was incredible for me. Like entering "better world"... 🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖

Woooow! Wait a second! What is this demo at the end of the video? Euthanasia? It seems to be a great shooter that I never saw before! Amazing graphics. Where can I find and download it? Can I play it?

www.atarimania.com/game-atari-st-eutanasia_30454.html I threw that one in at the end as a surprise. I found emulator playable version of all of these if you find you need one, I can always put it up on my share if you need one. Eutanasia is on Atarimania though.

How have the STE versions of some of these games come about?. They weren't available back in the day.
