~This is a very nice functional lighter. However, while DuPont makes very nice lighters , I will stay with my Kiribi and IM Corona Lighters. They work very well for me. ~ I am a collector of Pipe Lighters and hope to buy a new DuPont Pipe Lighter. However, I am retired and 70 years old. I may have to be satisfied with a used one and rebuild it. ~That's OK, I'm a retired Registered Professional Engineer. I love rebuilding all things mechanical.

had this lighter now for 8 years. use it everyday like 15+ times a day. travel with it, lost it on the ground at least a 100 times. even had it in a accedetal wash in the wacher machine. it light up on all kinds of lightergas i ever bought. its the most consistence working always working thing i have ever owned. its dented, scrathed up from my pockets, been dropped to the ground, but refuses to stop working.

Stunning lighter Dirk! And a great review my friend. I love when you review the cigar accessories. This is a fantastic looking lighter. Hopefully sometime I can get around to picking one up for myself :) Till next time my friend!

Glad that you mentioned the "China" imprint on the lighter. Esp. since it is advertised to be made in France. Really shows the quality and depth of your review.

der_ray yes that is really a thing that irritates me about it. China should not be on there.

Bro I don't think your videos are long! Actually I wish they were longer, but I just say, for a review of a lighter, this was very good! 👊🏼

Just ordered a replacement for my XTend from 2006. Yes, it really did hold up all this time! Was used on and off all these years; but it was never babied. Almost went with this one but chose the XTend replacement (MaxiJet). Something to be said about how the classic design has endured. And the slight curves and finish make it easy to go in and out of pocket. This Extreme version is in my near future though. I know the larger knob on the bottom isn't perfect (per your other video), but I'd say that and the large fuel window add some practicality over the MaxiJet. Quick question for you: do you exclusively use the Dupont brand butane in your Dupont lighters? It's very difficult for me to find close by where I am located. We have every other brand including Colibri and Xikar, etc. Thank you for you reviews!

I think you said it perfect. You can get the same results from a cheap torch. Great review, but I’d rather spend my money on cigars and use a cedar match.. old school
@AtDutchcigars6 жыл бұрын
kwesty1 can’t blame you man! You can get some nice cigars for that money!

So do you have to use DuPont Fuel, or what else works?

Nice video, Dirk But you didn't mention the fact that this particular design doesn't have any case Unlike other S.t Dupont lighters where you can find cases for Slim, Minijet, Maxijet etc. i struggled to find a case for it, but no luck. Cheers

Awesome review brother!! Ridiculous price for a lighter. Flame is a flame in my book. I'll gladly use a long match and spend the other $199 on my favorite cigar. Cheers!!!

I have some news regarding the made in China stamp. I contacted my seller and they said. As authorised vendors of ST Dupont we asked the brand about this question in some other occasions. They told us that the works of lacquer, the metal work and the body of the lighter is made in their headquarters in France. However, ST Dupont confirmed us that the ignition mechanism of this pieces is made in China, but not the whole lighter, which is made entirely in France. We have just contacted Dupont to verify this information and they told us that, the reason to put China, is because they are are obliged to specify the country in which the mechanism of ignition is manufactured

Good to clear this out.I had my doubts that i got a fake lighter from a luxury and well respected shop and wanted to return it back but i stumble across your comment.Thanks for the info ;)
@midoribookstore7 ай бұрын
they even do you a solid by (at least on the vintage copper version) printing the "China" OVER the lacquer so flimsily that it simply wore off with light fingernail scratching. Not a trace left!

Soft flame vintage lighters is where it's at. Torch lighters burn the hell out of tobacco. I usually use spills or matches most of the time.

to each their own ;) I like soft flame lighters because it's calming to look at in my opinion but I also like the sound and feel of jet-flame lighters.

just be careful when u fly to Ukraine or from Ukraine.. they took my Dupont torch lighter from my checked luggage and didn't allow it to fly despite it was a full empty tank and special case covering. very big shame to lose such expensive products.. so be careful while you fly overseas especially to Ukraine!!
