I'm sure someone already mentioned this but yes, Hongjoong has become a LOT more open and affectionate over time. I think a lot of it is that when they first debuted he was trying to forge this his place in that leader role and he spent more time in what they called "Pok-Joong" (explosive/grumpy) mode where he was more of an authoritative figure. For example, I think you've seen some compilations where there were older clips of him threatening to have them "come to his room" which, judging by their reactions, is presumably where they would sometimes get lectures and tough love from him when there was something he felt needed to be addressed. To my knowledge, this is no longer a thing. (Not least of all because he often sleeps in the living room and doesn't spend much time in his room anyway xD.) I think earlier on he was afraid of losing their respect by becoming *too* soft and friendly with them. It was hard for him to balance that. Now things have changed. They've all grown up, found a groove, and require less micromanagement. He doesn't have to fight for their respect because the members naturally respect him based off of his impeccable track record of being such an amazing leader and friend the last three+ years. When they get a trophy they often make sure he gets to hold it first. They make sure he knows how much of a support he's been to them since trainee times, they often remind him he's a genius, and they speak his praises every chance they get. They know his job is difficult and hard on him. I think now they spend a lot of time paying back the love and support he gave them over the years because they realize he's often the one who needs it. Because of this, it seems the group has kind of flipped around and often he's one of the babied ones. They just adore him so much. Nowadays they only really talk about "Pok-Joong" in the sense of him being in one of those moods at home (perhaps acting a little grumpy because he's tired/stressed) and they joke about it saying how cute he is when he gets in that mode. The whole dynamic has really shifted. It's so heartwarming to watch.

This was actually super sweet to read. The thought of the members babying him is really sweet because honestly, it's probably what he needs. Being a leader is no joke, you would have so much pressure on you. So having a team who looks after you, loves you and supports you is just so crucial! He is lucky to be in a team of such loving ppl and the team is lucky to have him 😍

43:59 yesss it is, he has the tiniesy waist and he once said the stylists struggle so much with him and his outfits, bc his waist is so tiny and his shoulders are so broad. You can see in a lot of pics how they use pins in his pants, bc its too big for his waist. 45:11 yes he is, during pre debut he was considered the fake maknae. He is so babied, and its so cute how usually when they're all together and they're all quiet san is always so loud and childish that even jongho, that is younger than him scolds him, its so cute. I think its because he is the youngest in his family and he said they used to baby him a lot, even when older. Also hongjoong in an interview once said when he first met san he was so shocked because he didn't think a person as pure as him could exist

I think when it comes to affection, Hongjoong just kind of accepts it. I don't think he completely loves it but he embraces it because the other members love and need it and it's a way for them to feel his care for them. I wouldn't say Jongho doesn't love affection either, but I think he prefers being in control of the affection? Like if he randomly does aegyo, he'll want them to respond, he hugs them but he'll be taken off guard when they hug him. He'll give affection but on his terms in a way.

The best way to explain Hongjoong is that he is like a cat!💖 He doesn't like to be touched, also bc he seems to be hypersensitive(? to touch and sounds! But it's ok if he is in control and initiates the contact or let the others do it when they are genuine and like them specially. Like you will notice the difference when Mingi was saying once "my love hongjoong" and hugging him but Hj was rejecting him and saying "why don't you that off camera too", that he always does that on camera and it's true xD (but on their daily lives we saw him grab Mg hands too < Aside of that, some say it's more recent, and I don't deny that ofc the should be even more close to each other, but is not a recent thing his skinship since pre-debut always has been like that, isn't that noticeable bc he may not be the type to like or give kisses and big hugs all the time like Woosan but you always could and can see him putting his arm around the others shoulders, cling on them or grabbing their hands!(btw if you see pictures is the most adorable thing bc he has tiny hands, like 16cm I think and you can see the difference specially with Yungi massive hands 🤧) Also is worth mentioning that Yeosang said to a fan once that Hongjoong is on top 3 of best or favorite huggers on Atz! The other 2 were Woo and Yunho :) You may watch some of this on the video "Hongjoong doesn't like skinship but..." And the comments say more or less like what I told you hehe Also a video along the lines "Hongjoong being soft for his members for x minutes" And oh my gosh Woojoong or Topaz(for their birth month stone) are a menace together! They are so mischievous, cute and have such good chemistry! Also Woo admires him lots and Joong it's the one he can outmatch Woo energy, with him the tables turn sometimes it's so funny you can see that on theirs Fireworks studio choom behind! Finally I recommend the other video sexymochi has of Woojoong and also loove a video that is called "Hongjoong x Woojoong the funniest duo" :) That was fun thank you for sharing your Atiny journey!☺️🧡

I'm so glad you're continuing to do friendship compilation ones. I really hope you'll go through all the ships. Even with groups I love for years, there are still some ships that just aren't as convincing as others. But ateez, I don't think I've watched all the ship ones, but watching all their content, each ship is just so wholesome. I love it so much. Loved this! It’s so fun to watch these with someone who laughs along with me.😊 Also the clips where they were scaring the members..that’s that new show on the Universe channel that I suggested you watch. It’s HILARIOUS!🤣 They released the episodes first on the universe app but I can’t get that to work so I’ve waited for them to add it to their KZbin channel which they finally added the first epi. Hongjoong tends to be okay now with much more physical touching like hugging and the like as time went on, although he's not rlly good w/kisses at all, whereas compared to the other members excluding jongho they are basically fine with almost any physical touching. (btw Yeosang is also bad w/kisses but not as much as hongjoong)

The way I see Hongjoong with affection is kinnda like Namjoon. They won't reject someone's affection (they actually find it heart-warming) but they also not the first to initiate it. If that makes sense. But with that said Hongjoong has definitely become alot more affectionate from what he was in the beginning. That's how I see it maybe other atiny might disagree. You're always so kind, perceptive and just give off a happy vibe. 🥰 I literally forgot that I watched this episode of the 82 challenge. And the next one as well. But it was so great to be reminded of 'oh hajima, oh hajima!' I also cannot handle spice but I'm actually getting better. I just never liked pepper but now that I'm cooking for myself I noticed that chili is actually quite good. But I would like to somehow try the spicy chip challenge (does that sound masochistic?)... In this episode, I think they did YeoSang and Yunho dirty - they never stood a chance. But WooSan shares the ice cream with Yunho happily in the end. 😉 I'm okay with not ever seeing San's audition video if it makes him uncomfortable. It's not something I could handle as I'm cringing often and I don't like it. He is such a sweetheart. 😊 I have not watched the universe scary video as I am also a scaredy cat and I don't like watching people who are scared. But it seems it is really funny. So I would appreciate if you react to it so I don't have to watch it alone...🤣 How selfish of me. Yes, duality.The Ateez is insane for their duality but the demon line really hits different (my favourite SeongHwa clip as I can't seem to find a reasonable good compilation video: kzbin.infoXg8WH3YiITM). It's funny how SeongHwa seems more reserved in real life but San is actually the introvert according to their IMBT test. But I think that is due to SeongHwa being more of a caretaker for the members. He had some issues with his self esteem before Atiny showing him a lot of love so my guess is that he tried to find his role in the group and took on the 'reliable older brother' role. Now he is more confident and shows his playfulness a lot. I just love their confidence on stage. They really take on a different personality as soon as they perform songs like Hala Hala, Wonderland etc. which is so amazing and nearly unbelievable to me. No wonder San and SeongHwa (as well as Yunho and Jongho) got a role in a drama. Their acting on stage is on point. Sannie can often be named the fake maknae as he can be cute, pouts a lot and even whines when he does not want to do something. But then again he can be acting all mature and responsible. So his duality is not limited to stage and behind the scenes...🤣 (Seonghwa can be very cute as well - he makes the best sound effects! I wish I could recommend a good compilation). It takes me so long to write this comment as I keep trying to find good compilations but there aren't any that fit what I am saying... 🙃 By the way, that first interview clip from the WooJoong video is very nice to watch. Not only are they funny and we get to see them appreciate meat a lot, they also share valuable behind the scenes information about their friendship. Kind of like the clip we see and Hongjoong say Woo is the reason he became more open. 😉 As some commenters already said, HongJoong got better at receiving and initiating skinship over time. Probably because at first he wanted to be a strong leader and is more comfortable now. But I don't think he'll ever get over his hatred of kissing... same with Jongho actually 🤣 HongJoong got better at receiving hugs although he also pulls a face. He also only seems to initiate skinship when he wants to tease one of the members and it does not really look natural. The only time I can really think of where it seemed natural and honest was in a vlive where he leaned on SeongHwa. Even SeongHwa looked surprised at first. I think one commenter (Vanessa R L) mentioned that moment as well. He is not the affectionate type although I believe a lot of it is for show. He might be more affectionate off camera but plays it cool when he knows he is being filmed. And now I am on to the next of your videos although I might comment tomorrow (or later today as it nearly 1 am already). Lots of hugs from Germany ❤️

Aw Nici, whenever I read your comments it’s like to take me on a journey! It’s so much fun and you always give me so much awesome insight into the boys! San is such an interesting character to me! He has such strong and sharp features and at first I wasn’t sure how I would take him (personality wise) but he very quickly showed me that he is just a cute ball of fluff who just loves everybody! On stage though….,. Get the hell out of this way 😅😅😅😅 Same with Seonghwa! He blows my mind! He is the one with the biggest duality to me and it’s SO IMPRESSIVE!!! Wow!!!! As for Hongjoong. I think it’s ok if he isn’t super affectionate - that’s just humans in general. More ppl are more affectionate than others! Showing love to others can be done in so many different ways than just touch so of course Hongjoon has his own special ways to let the members know how much he loves them. They are all so sweet ❤️❤️❤️

i really enjoyed ur reactions so much and i hope to see more thank u, so i think coz hoongjoong is my bias so my eyes always on him i think he fells more comfortable and soft with wooyoung and yunho the most and he is okay with them in affections stuff and recently he said wooyoung is the most member close to him( i hope u do more of these two moments) they are really always together more than san and wooyoung recently at least , but i see hoongjoong not like that for example with seonghwa witch he avoid eye contacts all the time and i don't know why maybe bcoz seunghwa is so beautiful heheheheh, and i really hope to see some hongjoong and mingi moments i love them together
