This is actually how their story begins. Hongjoong on Sunmi Showterview said that Fever series is a prequel from Treasure series, so the chronological order of their lore is Fever series, Treasure series, The World series and so on. The Diary Film video shows you how they found themselves one by one to achieve their dreams but they got separated because of Yeosang's father (they're still in the World A). They got together again thanks to the Cromer but in the different dimension, World Z. (This is how Fever Part 1 ended in the Diary Entry from the album)

Would like to recommend the Fever Road series! It contains some lore stuff as well as Ateez just being their sweet, hilarious chaos gremlin selves. Would be good to go along with the Fever albums

I am so excited you reacted to this. It is rare a reactor sees it and it adds a lot of layers to future MVs. The character traits that you’ll see over and over. A lot of their storyline is based on real life, but not all. 8:55 This part is important in the lore. You’ll often hear this girl called Be Free Girl or Thunder Girl by Atiny. Also, in the lore Seonghwa has a strong awareness because of his ‘awakening’ from this encounter. That’s all I’ll say, but keep it in mind in TheWorld era. 16:59 Fortunately, the brother part is not real. 17:29 Yes… it is largely autobiographical. He was hurt later on, but same type injury. 21:06 In choreo and in concert, you’ll often see them make the sign like they are turning over the cromer. 21:17 Remember the dance circles with the person in the center in some of the choreo? 😊

The Diary Film makes me very emotional. I didn't know Ateez until Kingdom LW so I missed the start of the Fever era. However, I was very quick to binge everything I could so the Diary Film has a real nostalgic feel to me. Plus I'm a sucker for the 'chosen family' bonds that not only run through their lore but their real lives as well.

Yay! We're getting into the Lore! I would suggest reading the actual Diary excerpts included with the albums. The one for Fever Part 1 tells the same story as the Diary Film, but with more context.

a lot of the stories are (semi)autobiograpical, jongho's you already realized, wooyoung did have really bad stage fright which he says he overcame with the help of ateez and atinys, yeosang's parents were not totally supportive of his dream to become an idol and wanted him to follow the path they set out for him. Those are the more literal ones, the other members stories are not as literal to their own lives but they're more loosely inspired by their experiences/feelings/struggles. I'm probably forgetting something or some detail but I'm sure other atinys can fill in the gaps.

From what we've heard from Yeosang, his parents were very opposed to his pursuit of music: they said he could only train after he fulfilled his academic requirements, so he went to an academically rigorous high school and trained for music after hours. I don't think he slept much. Filling in some of the others: Seonghwa is kind of ruled by his self-imposed structure--remember his method of cleaning and how he can't relax if things aren't in order. San left home to go to Seoul and has an absolute resolution to become a dancer but had no experience with it (he already sang), so I think that's the origin of his diary story. Mingi seems like it's tied to his feeling like he's a bit of a misfit. Hong joong and Yunho's stories don't seem to relate directly to their real lives, except for perhaps Hong Joong missing his family but needing to prove himself (he gave up a lot) and Yunho feeling responsible in general (maybe for Mingi specifically, because of the time stamp on their phones?). Those are suppositions though.

So…we’re finally to my favorite album and almost to my favorite song, Fever! I cry everytime to Dear Diary and the Diary Film. As others have suggested definitely watch Fever Road. It gives you more lore and how tells you how the Cromer works.

I have always had a theory for their fight in this film. We see that Jongho approaches Mingi to shove him, and Mingi seems unbothered by this, which makes them all begin to fight. This seems relevant. My theory? Their dancing was put on pause when Jongho was injured. Mingi, feeling restless, returned to fighting. This upsets them because if Mingi gets himself hurt, then he won't be able to dance either, and it only sets the whole group back. Mingi is nonchalant about his own wellbeing, further upsetting Jongho and a fight break out between them all.
