First time listening to them I was like, yeah bop, but there're similar sounds to well, kpop, but then the more I Iisten to them, there's a distinct flavour that's different about them, and since I don't really study music, I can't put my finger on it, and I'm glad you guys reacted to them and pointing out the things I couldn't. Yeah, I agree. There's just something very interesting about them, from among all the other recent K-Pop groups I've listened to. They have a lot of charisma, and a combination of individuality and unity. Their dance, rap and singing are all great too! I really enjoy their performance. For me, my favorites are Say My Name, which I love so much and play often, followed by HALA HALA and Wave. So I've already heard them all but these are the ones I'm obsessing over. They also have some unique flows in their dance moves. Yesss!

I agree with the comment about the airhorn, I thought I was the only one who burst out laughing when I heard it for the first time. It's just, so funny? this was my 2nd ateez song after wonderland (which i loved but i understood from the get go), and i was frankly very impressed, i felt that same spark of doubt at the beginning but by the 1st chorus it was clear to me they were going to be bold and untethered, i would have had a good impression of it even if it had never resolved that build up and then it went and di idk wtf there at the end that i was surprised and satisfied and equally hooked with their potential

The true stand out from this mini is Hala Hala. It’s the true successor to Pirate Kings musical interest. You really have to check it out, and I don’t mean the MV in which the song is truncated. The full version is a masterpiece.

I just wanted to clear it up since you had asked and I also see a LOT of people mispronounce their name: In hangul, it is characterized as 에이티즈. The 에 character in english you would pronounce as the AY in Day, and the 이 is pronounced as the the EE in Week. The 티즈 is simply "tease." As long as it's known the A in Ateez is a "hard A (ie: dAY, plAY, sAY, thEY, etc)" it's easy to remember:)

I really didn't like this the first time I heard it. But then I was curious what the whole dance looked like so when they started doing the live performances I got totally sucked in. It's definitely grown on me a lot now, and I think it's actually because of the performances! Their stage presence is insane and really enhances the song. Especially the last parts! They hit hard!!
