Atelier has a ton of releases. They released basically all their older trilogies from last 2 gens on the Switch (and PS4/5), so basically everything since they went HD is available on the Switch in the form of trilogies + the new games. Older games had less open areas and some had time limitations on doing stuff, but I highly recommend Rorona as a starting point for the rest of the series if you like Ryza. Rorona is the first entry in the Arland now quadroly (they made a 4th game after the trilogy released) and it's from the era when they still had dubs, if that matters to you. It's an easy game, but it has a bonus 4th year of gameplay that brings in the protagonists from games 2 and 3 of that series through time travel shenanigans to conquer some mad post-game bosses

To be fair Ryza series of games are on the easier end of the spectrum. Dusk and Arland series are more complex so it is nice so see that Devs tried to spice alchemy up in this game as well as gameplay and battles. The game is all about that alchemy for the most part, once u get mastery over it even the most basic items can become so OP that in higher difficulties can 1 shot kill any normal monster or do complete heals,buff the party like crazy, etc. So as I said it is a welcomed addition all the changes to alchemy as being real, despite not being a lengthy game, you end up spending most of your time trying to get certain attributes or stats in whatever you are creating for optimal crazy damage. My issue is the visuals, it feels like game 1 or 2 looked better IMO. Sure it is nice to see almost no load screens but the stuttering and the visual quality feels off. With so many games coming out, I think I'm gonna pass for a while. I was expecting more being honest but nevertheless it seems like a fun game to get down the road.

I had never heard of the Atelier games until I bought a Switch, then there suddenly was that sprawling franchise nearly as big as Final Fantasy in terms of number of games! I might have to look into them someday, when I have time for some more JRPGs. They do look colourful and whimsical enough...
@youtubeisracistx Жыл бұрын
why are you even comparing two different games? atelier dont even look like final fantasy 🤷♀️ but whateved 🤷♀️ guess people are starting to hate final fantasy. but you guys are gonna regret that when final fantasy 16 comes out. final fantasy 16 is gonna beat this game and all of other final fantasy games. except number 8.
@Christophoronomicon Жыл бұрын
@@youtubeisracistx I'm sorry but, what are you going on about? Have you even read my comment? I was not comparing the Atelier Games with the Final Fantasy games. I was comparing the *number* of Atelier games with the *number* of Final Fantasy games (and in fact I got my comparison wrong. Final Fantasy has 15 to 19 mainline games depending what you count as mainline, while there are *24* mainline Atelier games, at least according to Wikipedia). I was not in any way comparing the Atelier games with the FF games. I have never played a FF game and am not interested in that franchise. Frankly, I could have used any well-known franchise with many games in it for my comparison, since the only thing I was comparing was the *number* of games in that franchise, not the games themselves (I just chose the FF games because they're such a well known JRPG franchise, but I could have used Dragon Quest just as well, or the Ys franchise. I was not interested in the games themselves, just in the *number* of games in the franchise). I was just expressing my *surprise* that such a *large* franchise like the Atelier games had completely escaped my attention until I got a Switch. I mean, I don't have a problem with people correcting me when I'm factually wrong. But please at least *read* what I write before jumping on me like that (and if English is not your native language, then I apologise if my comment confused you, but it's still not a reason to jump on me like that). Oh, and I don't *care* about FF16. And it's not going to "beat" other video games (whatever that means) or make me "regret" anything. Gaming is not a zero-sum game. I mean, I wish the FF16 devs the best, but that game releasing will *in no way* influence which games I play, so it might as well not exist for me. If you're looking forward to it, good for you. But I can't understand the mindset of someone who wishes that a game release would cause others to "regret". Regret what, having fun playing other games?

I wish all these Atelier games would get dubs again. I loved the dubs back in the Arland saga and hated that they gave up on dubs shortly after that. It doesn't have to be great, just some actors and actresses having fun will be good enough for me. At my age, I just don't have the time to focus on reading every line and my eyes do need some rest after staring at text on screens for 8+ hours straight at work. Dubs are useful for your aging audience who is still interested in the games, if nobody else (which it's not nobody else)
