the moment this opened up to me, 99 alchemy was easy AF, gems are the cornerstone of this game.....you only have to make ONE copy of the very best version of an item you want, then DUPE it....its...magical lol. took me one day to get 55-99 alchemy just item rebuilding

Man thank you so much for this! I struggled to break 100k gems, but I just watched this and spent 10 minutes doing this and I have a shit ton of gems now. However, it looks like it maxes out the amount of gems I can own to 10 million. Either way that’s still a lot and I’ll never run out now :)

You can do this same thing with Poison Smoke and Poison Cubes before End Game, though its admittedly slower.

I just tried this. It costs me 14,400 to dupe the Cube 9 times and I get back 24,453 for reducing the 19 Smokes. So 10k profit. I imagine it'll get a little better once I can put more items into a recipe. But still, I have to do this fiddly process at at least 4 times a minute to make more gems than the tree method ^_^;

A bit faster to get the cubes and synthesize the strongest flute (with trash ingots), much later in the game, but still before endgame.

Thanks if your not at post or end game gathering/low quality synth items seem to help to get you started with basic synthesis (for the 999 seeds and all that), but I'll do the Philosopher's Stone gem reduction for sure when the recipe drops. Not kidding actually I just got some 500+ RAW mats for simply sleeping after getting those 999 seeds. Also I found that Traveler's Water Orb is good for getting gems early if you dupe 999 zettels, about 10k to dupe 9, but you get over 100k for deleting the traveler's water orb for gems if you have alot. Use those to dupe red stones for the Philosopher's Stone.

hey, just wanted to let you know, there's another method of getting lots of gems early game that's much faster at generating gems, and unlocks ~ the same time as limewick hill (technically it's unlocked at liese valley but if you have access to limewick hill, you have access to the valley) - glass flower+rose incense. it functions much like the post-game method, except you need one raw resource in addition to large quantities of incense. 999 quality incense with all of its effects and quality traits costs ~21k for a batch of 9 from duping. adding 1 rosenwater and those 9 incense into the glass flower recipe gives back ~100k. obviously not as good as the philosophers stone gem duping since there's more gems being worked with in each batch, but it's -vastly- superior to whacking the limewick hill tree with an axe for a measly 40k per trip. found this on accident after watching this when I went to make a max effect glass flower and noticed I was getting a bunch of copies from incense's +2 synth quantity effect

so to put it in realistic terms. nine 466 quality rose incense (trust me, the quality don't matter here.) cost 31248 gem (Omg so much) it would make twenty 580 quality glass flower. which reduction for 92280 gem. so while it isn't as much of a profitable as it sounded, it is still insanely good. especially when considering it can be done around mid-game.

I know quality doesn't matter, it's just what I had from when I was raising the quality of my items from ~200 to 999. they were already there, why not use them. also, the numbers I listed were 100% accurate at the time I posted it. I made the post with the game open, and wrote down exactly the cost and exactly the return rounded to the nearest 1000 (so technically not "exactly", but I wouldn't have been off by 10k). however, this was a month back. it's possible a patch came out that made duping more expensive and scrapping less valuable, turning my 5x gem duping into a 3x duping. looking at your numbers, it sounds like that's exactly what happened, since your rose incense has half the quality yet 50% more cost to my incense.

To the people that need start up gems: If you just use one taboo drop you can synth that red gem right away and then drop it into the philo stone with three other junk elix materials and it winds up being worth about 140k for the two of them. until you can make like 20+ at once

@@Alpheus_09C I'm glad my past stoned self was thoughtful enough to share the same fear about the entry level to this exploit and write a helpful blurb to using a cheaper startup method. I love these games for all of the neat menuing and creative accounting they let you do in the alchemy systems. Well and the world aesthetic and music etc rock too. glad people are still getting into them. If you are coming into these games with Ryza and want more when you finish play the alchemist of dusk series. Especially now picking up the repackaged versions on PS shop or switch store are very reasonable price wise. they start slow and get incredibly far out with some of the coolest environments bosses and music tracks.

This definitely doesn't take an hour to max the gems though :) More like 10 minutes if you have a ok starting amount of gems like 120k. Which you can easily get using axe with gathering L at those trees in the maple area with those big ones.

the hour was to max from 0 right away as soon as the feature is available, if you do it as you said with a good starting amount then yes, its about 10 minutes

its also the fastest by miles. nothing comes even remotely close to this, and in the future update we can infinitely refine weapons for max stats (costs 1 million gems per refine) so its going come in handy
