As a newcomer, my answer is yes. At first it was the thicc and the thighs, but I can honestly say after 35 hours in the game that it is an absolute blast! The synthesis system is so deep and complex but it’s very rewarding. The battle system was confusing as hell at first but once you get it down it’s a lot of fun too. You can mix up your party and synchronize some awesome combos. I recommend this to anyone that is on the fence, although play with a controller on PC or you probably won’t enjoy it with no mouse support. They are adding an update soon for mouse and graphics options.

I've played a lot of the other games and had a lot of the same issues. This game does a lot of stuff new and differently. 8:56 I'm pretty sure you just need to be in your room/at base/whereever you do alchemy to equip it. This is something that was obvious to me from playing other games but I don't think it was explicitly stated. The elimination of the basket in this game as well as the core charge mechanic kinda contributes to that. (edit: I got farther and there is a basket nevermind. It's weird but cool that materials go directly to your container on the entire island) Firis in 2017 was the last game to get an english dub unfortunately :(

Well what you do is find the way to make the items 999 with the best possible traits, it would take awhile to get them 999 with all the best traits and effects. This is usually a quality trait exploit, and finding compenents for the correct elements for the item effects. The last Atelier game I played was Lulua so I will get it soon probably with Lydie and Suelle.

The main difference would be story vs mechanics. Tales have very good story and character arcs that mesh well with the story. Ateliers... have mediocre stories at best. Mechanic wise, the Tales series don't have very good gameplay imo. The battles are samey, the world is too big and nothing to do, the towns feel empty as there are almost no one to interact with. Meanwhile, Atelier has a world full of things you can interact with and build items from them. The towns are generally livelier since most merchants have their own story and arc (unless its the ghost seller or the bald blacksmith, those are recurrent characters). The crafting mechanics often evolve into something else, that makes complex items available, but require the knowledge from the previous steps to make something more complicated. In conclusion, Atelier is for a relaxing/addicting game (that you can have one new every year!) that has bad to med story.

Funny enough there is no mention of using items during the fights, which is a core of the fighting system of these games but very easy to forget if you play it like a typical J-RPG. The initial cutscene with the "grenade" is a big hint, the very weak "alchemist" character can use all of the usable items you craft to great effects and if you put enough focus on crafting those bombs she can easily out-damage the rest of the team in most fights. Items are also typically the answer against enemies that seem overly powerful (although there are times where they just want you to come back later).

How to be noticed by the newcomers: - less pastel colors - make MC extremely thicc And that’s it. I’m not kidding. That’s how I understood the marketing campaign of this one. As a non-english native speaker it allways baffled that people are complaining when a japanese medium comes to the english speaking countries and there is no english VAs or the voice acting is a bit out of sync. Games get rarely voice acted in my language, and some companies like Atlus don't even care to translate the text into anything but english with their JRPGs. Don't get me wrong, it's no problem for me personally, but since I grew up without many voiced games or out-of-sync voices, I'm way more used to it. All I say is just be happy for at least have text in your native language. Also, the only thing I complain about is inconsistently like when a game gets translated and the follow up doesen't.... Like Three Houses... just saying the last homeconsole FE game (RD) was voiced in other languages.... It's such a step back.

I briefly played Iris on PS2 and wasn't digging it a lot, navigation just wasn't clicking Tried this earlier in the year and was pleasantly surprised, though I agree the crafting system is a make or break kind of deal. Either you find a lot of the stuff casually through natural progression of equipment and new areas, or you miss something and have to fiddle around in menus until you find the general area to check...which as you said could be more descriptive. Took me just over 17 hours to finish the game with grinding included, so it's not the biggest time investment.

My biggest problem for this game is the controls. I imagine most people aren't plebs like me and use a controller as intended. Meanwhile I play this thing with keyboard. The port is a bare minimum with no mouse support. I had to remember a really bizarre key mapping with buttons scattered everywhere. There were a lot of sensitivity issues with me tapping a button and game thinking I am holding it. @feanorchronos77065 жыл бұрын
@@rick30521 I can understand preferring Japanese but not having a dub is a pretty big con for me. It honestly detracts from my experience. As for what you said, I don't know. You may be right but I would argue it's because Atelier fans don't care what they do so long as they keep getting more Atelier. Just look at the ridiculous dlc prices. No way would they stay so bad if people weren't paying for them. I'm not really surprised they do either. Atelier is a very unique series after all. Very accurate review. I just hope this game gets enough attention to continue & the next iteration has far more streamlined synthesis, the characters get more abilities to choose from, you're able to access Fatal Drive at level 4 instead of 5 so you can use it more often & actually slow down the battles because at this pace you don't even notice status effects or have the time to deal with them, you just have to power through which takes away some of the strategy jrpg's are loved for. Just a few changes & this game would be just about perfect. (Although don't bother with the previous titles as they are garbage. It is the innovative battle system that makes this a winner.)
