Are you asking if we reccomend playing this game? GET IT NOW. IT'S A MINDBLOWING GAME. And this is coming from a person who doesn't play many RPGs. Get the Plus version on PSVita, if possible, it's got all the DLCs from the PS3 version and more content like extra characters and events. Mind that this is the 3rd game of the Atelier Dusk trilogy so you'll hear some references about stuff from the previous 2 games, but it's nothing major so you won't feel like you're not understanding what's going on only because you didn't play the previous games.

In case someone is still asking if you should play it. Of course, you should. Most of the Atelier games are really cool, BUT I would NEVER recommend to jump some previous games. Atelier plays with your memory about the old characters. It constructs a relation between the characters and also gives meaning to them and they do it really good. I am actually still by the end of Atelier Escha and Logy, but I ended the Misterious Serie from PS4 and until now is basically the same conception. The characters are meaningless without a previous story. The feeling you get by playing the entire serie one by one is TOTALLY different and better. The first of this serie, Atelier Ayesha, is a really good game with also really good soundtrack and that's where I would recommend to anyone start (or Atelier Sophie in case you want another serie from currently generation).

+XxHarvestPrincessxX Not sure if the referred Kanji lyrics is 100% correct but at least it is for the most parts. And there was a part where the chorus was "-iru" and later "-iku" which one can't really put any fault as it could be the singer's mistake or intentional in the lyrics since it holds 2 different but with actual meaning. For example the first line is "Katamichi "Ji"bun "mo" inochi wo nigirishimetteiru". "片道自分も命を握り締めっている". Translates to "Grasping onto your own one-way life". At least it is what sounded in the song, be it an expression or just grammatical error one doesn't start a sentence with a subject + "mo" unless the listener knows what to expect based on previous dialog, which sadly is the start of the song. Stumbled onto this page, deciding if I should buy the soundtrack CD for Atelier Shallie while playing the recently launched Plus version since I also bought the Limited Edition box.
