How are you monitoring your audio from the Atem Mini?
@Fletchman13132 жыл бұрын
We plug the external HDMI port to a TV, and plug headphones into the TV's headphone jack.
@mv804014 ай бұрын
I use the HDMI out to my old Atomos Shogun. You have to activate the proper channel output to hear it which confused me initially: I could see the levels jumping in Multiview but no sound.

@@waltjennette A dream setup for me would be 2 USB ports, 2 HDMI (one for program, one for the multi), a headset jack, 4K and an SD for video playback instead of stills or buying a HyperDeck.

Good ideas. Line level in setting for sure. The ATEM Mini defaults to the last settings so mine defaulted to mic inputs, forgot you could change those to line inputs so I had clipping today. Will check that setting. Also grabbing a headphone out of your camera monitor/recorder is a good idea. Will try that. The HDMI output cable connector headphone extractor works too.

That last little hack is what I’m trying. I have a rodecaster pro connected to an Atem Mini run zoom through OBS. If this doesn’t work then I’m getting an HDMI monitor that I can pull the audio and send the video feed to another lcd I have in the studio. Fun times!

Nice video, thanks for making it. Only thing for me is that I am using the ATEM C output to record onto SanDisk SSD drive, so I can only use HDMI out to monitor audio to monitor to optimize equalization. With this arrangement, I am concerned about any coloration of sound signal that my monitor (BenQ PD3200U, which is good) may induce before its audio jack-out. I'm also wondering if my headset, Sony WH1000MX3., adds any significant coloration as it subjectively sounds different using its power-off vs power-on. I'm thinking that I should buy a dedicated wired over the ear studio monitor headphone - would you agree, or as an audiophile snob am I being too picky? But do count me among the frustrated that Blackmagic couldn't do something as technically simple as add an audio monitor out from their otherwise great ATEM Mini-Pro.
@waltjennette2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It’s not the greatest solution in the world but it is one none the less. Blackmagic seems to like making things difficult sometimes and this is another example

@@waltjennette No the input level. We've been struggling with putting a line level input into the ATEM, but despite tons of research I have never seen the option to change it from mic to line (until now). We've been using a -50db pad all this time.

Thanks for this great video. I have my headphones plugged into my laptop headphone jack. I have my mic going into the first mic input on the atem. I have a soundboard with sound effects going into the 2nd mic input on the atem. Is there any way to hear the soundboard from the 2nd mic input in my headphones WITHOUT hearing my own voice coming in through the first mic input? Thank you!
@waltjennette2 жыл бұрын
So if I understand correctly, you're trying to create a mix-minus basically. What type of laptop are you using? This is a bit tricky because there's not necessarily a way to separate the audio within the application. If you don't mind me asking, why are you using the soundboard? And why not have the mic going into the soundboard, so you just have 1 audio source?
@THEPIPELIST2 жыл бұрын
@@waltjennette Thanks for the quick reply and willingness to help! I have a MacBook Pro. I don't know if soundboard was the correct term, this isn't my wheelhouse... I'm starting a video podcast with a friend, he's remote, and I have the Atem because I know I will add multiple cameras to the production in the future. I have my mic in the first mic input on the Atem. In the 2nd mic input I have an iPad with a "soundboard" app running so I can queue up funny sound effects during the stream. That's what I meant by soundboard. Now the problem is, my headphones are plugged into my laptop so I hear my friend speaking, but I don't hear anything in my headphones that's coming in from my mic 1 or 2 inputs on the Atem, so I don't hear the sound effects. This is why I'm trying to figure out how to hear the mic 2 input and not the mic 1 input in my headphones. I want to hear the sound effect but not my own voice in my headphones. Thank you again for you help!!!

Thanks for the great tip. Also, on Mac, has anyone tried BlackHole/Soundflower instead of making a quicktime recording for monitoring audio? If that works, that might be the easiest way to get audio. Also another cheap alternative would be to get a HDMI audio extractor, and use it to get the audio from the HDMI out.
@waltjennette2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting. Yeah, BlackHole or Soundflower would be a more permanent solution. Quicktime monitoring would just be something for a quick pinch and free. Lol.

The real problem is whatever you do you can only get a stereo feed out of the mini and that is it. If you have a mixer with inline output you can get 4 channels in to it besides the camera mics = 8 audio inputs, but still only stero out. So there is something wrong with the videoworld that they do not let us hook up audio gear the way we are used to. And it is only unbalanced outputs = no Pro gear
