An atheist challenges Cliffe Knechtle on the nature of faith, communication, and the impact of actions versus words in demonstrating devotion to Christ. As the debate unfolds, the atheist argues that meaningful actions-like caring for family and serving the community-speak louder than proclamations of faith.
He questions whether public speaking is truly the best way to do good, sharing personal experiences as a husband and father to highlight the significance of actions in raising moral children and positively influencing the community. Knechtle responds by asserting the importance of using rational minds to comprehend reality and the role of verbal communication in shaping beliefs.

Yes he did he said no question about it and he listed the good he was doing besides speaking on campuses, loving his wife, and his children, giving to the hungry and the poor etc. You need to replay his answer because with serving Christ you don’t get locked into doing just one thing. He also pastors a church so he does public speaking all of the time. The young man was trying to get Cliff to shut up but in a round about non direct way by couching it as a question. The young man was really telling Cliff “ you aren’t doing any good coming here on this campus talking about Jesus. No one is listening.” That’s what he was really saying but tried to cover it up by making it a question. The young man wanted Cliff to be on the defensive, Cliff’s too smart for that.

Yes bc the thinking of it makes no sense. It’s irrational. Did you hear this guy? He said he’d believe “John loves Mary” in the sand out of pure randomness or “statistic anomaly”. Seriously? So that’s what Cliffe is saying when he says “atheist are gullible”. The whole point is that we don’t get life from non life. If so please please please look up the crazy percentage that we’d end up with if human beings came by chance. Statistically impossible. When the Big Bang happened, if it produced the billionth of percentage off of hydrogen we wouldn’t exist. That is fine tuning. Fine tuning from a creator. Otherwise we’re just pure miracles and the atheist that believes in miracles literally lives in the life of a hypocrite. Again..irrational.

As Anslem, who was an 11th century Archbishop of Canterbury, put it; I believe, therefore I understand. That is different from saying I understand, therefore I believe. Religion is based on faith, which is believing in phenomena for which there is no independently verifiable empirical evidence. Arguing for or against religious beliefs, irrespective of their character, is an exercise in futility.

This guy uses the faith too broadly. There are different kinds of faiths Faith in humanity, faith in science, faith in love, faith in oneself, faith in destiny, faith in progress, faith in tradition, faith in reason, faith in others, and faith in fate. Each of these stands as a distinct pillar of belief, each molded by its own set of values, influences, and underlying assumptions. The faith in humanity, for instance, holds that people are inherently good, yet often it is tempered by disillusionment. The faith in science, on the other hand, is rooted in empirical evidence and methodical progress, its foundation firm in the pursuit of truth but, at times, seemingly indifferent to the deeper nuances of human experience. Faith in love can lift and bind, yet it is as fragile as it is passionate, subject to the vagaries of emotion and circumstance. Faith in oneself, while empowering, risks turning inward too much, possibly neglecting the greater interconnectedness of all things. Faith in destiny implies a certain resignation, a belief that forces beyond control guide us, which contrasts sharply with the optimism of faith in progress, where human action and effort are believed to lead to continuous betterment. The faith that once a person completes their bachelor's degree, a university will grant them a degree certificate falls under the category of faith in systems or institutions

All Cliffe can do is argue with young college students, when he debates adults he gets owned. His recent debate with his son Stuart against Alex O'Connor and Phil Halper was a disaster, he looked like an angry ranting old fool and Stuart just a smug fool. Like here, all he does is make assertions and false dichotomies. He often resorts to disparaging remarks saying you'd have to be on drugs to believe that, or insane, when people disagree with his nonsense.

The arrogance of Cliffe to presume to know what an atheist believes and then mock them for it. That's his typical straw man argument. "An atheist believes everything came from nothing!" Wrong! An atheist is simply someone who does not have a belief in a god or gods.

@@paulhadlington8179 No religious person I know nor would any reasonable person ever say they have all the answers. Christians at least look for the most plausible explanation for the origin of life, morality, purpose, and our destiny, is there life after death? We look for the evidence that is rational, logical and most reasonable, you just presume you have it figured out that religious people make a claim that is completely unfounded and unsubstantiated. And then say that atheists who make truth claims, don't have to support their claim because they don't have all the answers. Making the claim that GOD does not exist, is a truth claim. And doesn't relieve you of any responsibility to provide evidence for your view, or...your non-view. Your strawman fallacy is not a argument or any athiest who makes a claim but says they don't need to give a reason of their viewpoint because they don't claim to have all the answers is the height of intellectual dishonesty.

@@OscaReyLich Energy could be eternal and the universe is simply the current expression of that energy. That's consistent with the first law of thermodynamics, that energy cannot be created or destroyed. But it's not a matter of "believing". Saying "I don't know" is a valid answer and in no way implies a god did it. When Cliffe says nonsense like, "You'd have to b crazy to believe that" He's mocking them. The point is these are young people at university, just starting out on their tertiary education and not fully capable of engaging in a sophisticated discussion on morality and ethics. Cliffe takes advantage of that and straw mans them with his false dichotomies and unsupported assertions. Watch him in a debate with adults who know what they're talking about and he just comes across as a sad angry old man. Watch his debate with Alex O'Connor and Phil Halper. It's on KZbin.
