Stephane Guenette This took google literally 0.27 seconds to find... www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15637693 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12548540 So yes, people (scientists) DO wonder about the origin of feathers. However, instead of just throwing their hands up and saying "I give up, it must be magic" (like you), they actually try to figure it out. Also, paradigms change if the theory doesn't fit the data. So far, this is not something that evolution has to worry about.

Stephane Guenette The most important difference between science and religion is, as zakiechan said, science has and *will* change its paradigm when the evidence changes. To change one's mind in religion is blasphemy or heresy. I pose the question to many believers "What would change your mind about your god?" - "Nothing" is their brainwashed reply.

Atheos Nous Good post, you say: " science has and will change its paradigm when the evidence changes." Yea that is why science is so much better than the manmade supernatural gods of the world. What is the source of all scientifically verified truth? The self-activating mathematical natural laws that are actualized by the forces of physics. So the father, the son & the holy ghost compose the silly supernatural fake non-god, the phony biblical non-god is just a metaphor for the natural laws & forces of physics that compose the real all natural God.

Angel Vila With practically 100% certainty there is a measurably real God composed of the mathematic symmetries called the fundamental and emergent laws of nature that are integrated with the forces of physics. The genuine big bang creator and law of nature ruler of the universe, the true reason there is everything rather than nothing, the real actualizer of all truth & reality is the genuine Deity documented over the last 400 years by the natural sciences & reason. Nothing supernatural has ever been documented with unambiguous evidence. Only weak anecdotal evidence supports anything supernatural, so most probably everything has a natural explanation, especially the big bang creator, evolver of humanity the Darwinian way & law of nature ruler of the universe God.

Sergio, how absurd god is depends on how you define God. If you define god as the absurd ignoramus in the bible, who has the sun going round the earth, then god can't possibly exist. If you define the mind of God as being analogues to the sum of natural laws directing the forces of nature to evolve all of reality, then there is a God. The consequences of your actions are also realized in accordance with these natural laws AKA the mind of God. In this way you communicate with God every day by your trial & error life experience, you decide your actions God decides your consequences in accordance with natural laws.

You poor "smart" and "intelligent" Atheists. You who are commenting and the one who made the humorous (and ironic) video could have spent about two minutes researching to learn the meaning of Psalms 14:1 and Psalms 53:1, which say, "The fool says in his heart, There is no God..." Had you spent two minutes researching you wouldn't appear to be so foolish. Just trying to help you here, so don't throw stones at the messenger. Just get a clue before typing or opening your mouth to speak on issues you are ignorant about, especially Bible verses. The Bible says that those in unbelievers (e.g., Atheists) do not understand the meaning of God's word when they read it. You just prove the point when you make videos and comment like you're doing here. The following is from the website Gotquestions.org -- try it out sometime. Question: "What does the Bible mean when it says “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God’”?" Answer: Both Psalm 14:1 and Psalm 53:1 read, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” Some take these verses to mean that atheists are stupid, i.e., lacking intelligence. However, that is not the only meaning of the Hebrew word translated “fool.” In this text, the Hebrew word is nabal, which often refers to an impious person who has no perception of ethical or religious truth. The meaning of the text is not “unintelligent people do not believe in God.” Rather, the meaning of the text is “sinful people do not believe in God.” In other words, it is a wicked thing to deny God, and a denial of God is often accompanied by a wicked lifestyle. The verse goes on to list some other characteristics of the irreligious: “They are corrupt; their deeds are vile; / there is no one who does good.” Psalm 14 is a study on the universal depravity of mankind. Many atheists are very intelligent. It is not intelligence, or a lack thereof, that leads a person to reject belief in God. It is a lack of righteousness that leads a person to reject belief in God. Many people do not object to the idea of a Creator, as long as that Creator minds His own business and leaves them alone. What people reject is the idea of a Creator who demands morality from His creation. Rather than struggle against a guilty conscience, some people reject the idea of God altogether. Psalm 14:1 calls this type of person a “fool.” Psalm 14:1 says that denying God’s existence is commonly based on a desire to lead a wicked life. Several prominent atheists have admitted the truth of this... (read more at GotQuestions.org) -- Google GOTQUESTIONS PSALMS 14:1 MEANING

For a prophecy to be a valid phenomenon: 1) The event must demonstrably have occurred. 2) The prophecy must demonstrably have been made before the event occurred. 3) The event cannot be something that was likely to have happened anyway. 4) The prophecy must be specific enough that it could only apply to the one event. 5) The prophecy cannot potentially have been self-fulfilling. Do any of the "fulfilled prophecies" in the bible meet these simple criteria?

I wouldn't make a point of telling my daughters that an author they like is gay unless for some reason they asked about it, eg: "does he have a wife?" in which case I would tell them in a very g-rated manner that many men fall in love with a woman and marry her. But some men, like Sendak, fall in love with a man and marry him. And likely, that would be the end of the discussion, as young children tend not to be bigots. Keep in mind that the US is a very religious country. The three major religions forbid the practice of homosexuality. People take this very seriously, and I respect that. Nevertheless, I believe that we're all God's children.

"Why should it? I'm not superstitious." Are you sure? Oxford English - Superstition: "excessively credulous belief in and reverence for supernatural beings" So have you stopped believing that a god exists since we last discussed it? Or are you superstitious?

The Grammarist is mistaken, you absolutely can have it both ways. Most atheists do. Check the Oxford English Dictionary - it's usually my go-to for understanding the actual meanings of words. An atheist lacks belief in gods and an agnostic believes that it is impossible to know whether a god exists. But there is nothing mutually exclusive about these concepts. I do not believe a god exists. But I do not claim to KNOW that there are no gods. This categorizes me as both agnostic and an atheist.

The thing about polls and surveys is, most of them concede that their numbers may be questionable so they add little caveats. It's true on both sides.

That's as I suspected. Smarmy means: "ingratiating and wheedling in a way that is perceived as insincere or excessive" And I certainly have not been attempting to ingratiate or wheedle myself to you, either excessively or insincerely. I kinda figured after I called you on it, you'd at least look up the word before embarrassing yourself further.

I've met Anne Druyan, Carl Sagan's widow, and she says he was, like her, an agnostic atheist. He did not believe in god as there was no evidence to support such an idea, he couldn't disprove it, but then, he couldn't disprove pixies either, but that's not sufficient reason to believe such things exist. You don't base your beliefs on whatever 'smart' people think anyway, so your point is totally superfluous.

When you said "gods may exist ..," I took you for an agnostic. As a rule, an athiest will declare "god/gods do NOT exist" and an agnostic will allow for the possibility that they MIGHT exist, but there's no evidence that they do" or "so far, there's no evidence that they exist."

It doesn't take a rocket science to figure that one out. Wernher von Braun was a rocket scientist, you could ask him. But, wait, he was a Christian. Forget that and ask Buzz Aldrin. He was the first person to hold a religious ceremony on the Moon. Upon landing, he radioed: "I'd like to take this opportunity to ask every person listening in, whoever & wherever they may be, to contemplate the events of the past few hours and give thanks." He then gave himself Communion. I guess you're SOL.

Go back to Wikipedia and get your facts straight. Excerpt: "Although it is rumored that his Christian Science faith prevented him from visiting the hospital, his stepmother and others deny this, as he had ceased practicing 15 years prior..." It also reports that Henson DID go to the hospital. That's where he died.

My initial thinking was, the video should have included atheist Nobel laureates in literature, the fine arts, etc. I can see it would be an impossible task since many of them are old, decrepit or dead. He'd also have to weed out the agnostics included in the atheist hot list.

Some of us care if our beliefs are true, or at least likely to be true. If you're happy believing something because ti will make you feel better, have at it. That is known as intellectually dishonesty. The Grammarist also, despite admitting in his definition that an atheist can simply be someone who lacks belief in a god, later implies that an atheist is someone who actively claims there is definitely no god. So he's a little confused even within his own post.
