Graz Dracula 2.1 English Subtitles

The Graz, Austria production of Frank Wildhorn's "Dracula - das Musical", a german-language musical, now with English subtitles.

The English translation was masterminded by the amazing Caliypsoe, who inspired me to work on this in the first place. I provided a spit-and-polish, worked out the aggravating dialog sections, and did a few of the chorus moments. Rubbing the rust off my German...
This is a sort of "test drive". I'm at a place where errors can be easily fixed and I know there are a few of them. Send me a shout-out if you pick them up.

I love the part where Lucy sings to the child. Her voice is so beautiful and perfect for that part.

For everyone wondering how Mina became attracted to Dracula so quickly, he starts mentally seducing her as early as the song in the first act when she hears his voice. Also, there's a theory explored in some adaptations, including the Korean translation of the musical--and I think hinted at at the start of this one with the pictures--that Mina's actually Dracula's first love reincarnated, so she remembers, if only subconsciously, her past life and love for him.

I agree with you that they've never met face to face, at least by this scene. They, mostly from Dracula to Mina, talk in minds. Dracula wants her to stay with him for good and Mina struggles between head and heart. Yet honestly I don't understand why she thinks she loves him, neither. She NEVER knows him. They do meet in the later Seduction part (unless how to, you know?). I like your 'omg' idea. : )

@Londonman84 Hm... well, I definitivly AM a nativ speaker and I can just say, that I never heard, that "hässlich" would be forbidden to describe people themselves... let's take for example the sentence "The Hunchback of Notre Dame is an ugly man." Everyone I know would translate it with: "Der Bucklige von Notre Dame ist ein HÄSSLICHER Mann." I don't know who told you that, but I can promise you, that everybody would understand you and know what you mean, if you called a person "hässlich". ;)

@ViennaVampire Someone who claimed to be a native speaker once told me that hasslich with an umlaut meant ugly as in clothes being ugly rather than as in humans being ugly. Were they lying to me?

I didn't get that. I get that she reminds him of his late wife, and he cares for her, but his wife's memory won't let him even have a crush on another woman.
