Celebrating the achievements and journeys of successful women during the month of March today we highlight the journey of Athing Mu, the world’s youngest female world title holder and 2x Olympic Gold medalist in track & field for individual events.
Ryan, Channing and Fred sit down with the 20 year old superstar to talk about her fast-track to the top of the sport and how she handled life changing quickly going from a high school student to College student to NCAA champion to Olympic gold medalist to world champ in less than two years. Her meteoric rise and unprecedented success has Athing’s name in conversations with top athletes around the globe and expectations continue to grow which is both a good and bad thing for the young star.
Unbeaten for 13 races, Athing is considered the future of of American sports and the most exciting runner in track and field at the moment where that pressure can seem overwhelming, especially for a young woman, but Athing takes everyday day with stride and realizes she is running for herself, focusing on her personal growth with each challenge she faces. The guys are blown away by her confidence and complete belief in herself to avoid the pressures and stress other athletes in her position may go through and just flat out compete. With her family migrating from Sudan before she was born, Athing doesn’t forget the sacrifices her parents made for her and although she runs for the United States she represents her homeland every time she steps on the track.
Her passion for running is matched with her dream of walking the runways one day as a fashion model and with all the confidence, Athing believes she has room for both in her life and looks forward to the day she gets to trade her cleats for heels and step into that part of her realm being seen as more than an athlete. Gearing up for competition, Athing is currently training with Bob Kersee, husband of track phenom Jackie Joyner-Kersee, and is learning not just how to be a pro on the track but in life too.

@forevergoated999

@@seensay2132 No disrespect to Fred he’s my guy but he’s not an Olympic champ and a man of few words. Allyson solid choice and in LA too but I rather current star which leaves Syd and Noah. Now Noah would be excellent choice a natural born talker/showman but again not Olympic Champ. It really should’ve been Syd she’s in LA same group as Athing and accomplished everything as her and more. Either way I’m happy they did hopefully more track stars get interviewed through Sep-Dec.

@@forevergoated999 Love everyone you mentioned but one thing: Kerley actually IS a talker with a lot to say lol! I forget who hosted but if you search KZbin there’s an interview he gave some Platform FaceTiming from his car. He’s VERY open and Very candid. Sometimes the folk we think are quiet and don’t have a lot to say just need the chance to speak.

Can’t wait to see her walk the runway and kill it with her Dominant and Regal features. I’m so proud of this young woman and everything she’s accomplished. Praying she continues to dominant and accomplish all her dreams. Great way to Pivot fellas. Honorary shout out to Brandon as he continues to excel as well.

Don't let that humility fool you. When she gets on the track, she is a stone cold killer!!! She transforms and she just wants to dominate. I love the combination of grace, humilty and sheer domination that she exhibits in one package. There are some athletes that are just transcendent, irregardless of where you are in the world, and she is one, she has that 'it' factor and you just root for her to succeed. My wife stops what she is doing whenever Athing Mu is running because she just thinks she is so graceful and beautiful and my wife always says she runs like a model. Great interview. She is a great already. Thank you! I concur, keep dominating Athing Mu.

It would be dope if you guys brought on more track and field athletes. There are so many stories and personalities that never get the shine they deserve. Fred Kerley, Marvin Bracy, Trayvon Bromell, Allyson Felix, Nia Ali, Devon Allen, Sydney McLaughlin, Matthew Centrowitz, and so many others. It's the most underrated and under appreciated sport in the United States especially. They deserve shine, so big ups for having Athing Mu on the pod, great episode!
