As a fellow Canadian ... I'd go with the 2X. Winter here always means you'll have to layer a sweater/sweatshirt underneath it and you'll need the room for those layers. It's nice to hope you'll lose weight but dress for how you are today, not for how you hope you'll be later.

Lovely coat. Appears coat has inside adjustable draw cords. I would keep the 2X for the here and now… to allow adequate movement for layering tops underneath in cold weather. Celebrate adjusting the draw cords when your body meets weight loss milestones. You can always gift it to someone else next season. Anyway, both coats look wonderful on you. 💕

I opt for comfort. Always. If it gets really cold where you live you will be grateful for the extra room. I hate a squeezed feel across my shoulders. I do not think the two coats look much different on you . Both really look slimming and great.

On the black coat, if I were buying it, I would definitely go with the 2X. I never buy anything, thinking I’m going to lose weight to make it fit better. Somehow that never seems to work out. LOL I can’t stand a coat that constricts me in the shoulders.

Tuff decision. The 1X fits much better. But if you wear layers in the super cold weather the 2x may work better, but just with a regular top on the 2x is to big on you.

Hi Cathy, I think the 1x coat is more flattering but it depends if you're comfortable in it and if it will be ok if you wear thicker clothes under. The 2x doesn't look very big. If you loose weight though the 2x might be way too big. I'm not helping, aren't I? 😬

I say 2x and if possible maybe it can be tailored ? Im not sure if thats possible but as a tall girl I absolutely hate when a coat is tight in shoulders or too short in arms or too small to layer underneath. You should be comfortable enough to sit in it and drive if not its too small. We always think about losing weight but honestly id rather get a new one when weightloss is a reality and fit the body im currently in. Coats that are too small look like a straight jacket

Looking at the public, the average woman probably takes at least a size 8 or so (no scientific analysis here !!!). Knix is a brand I don't but but like the diverse size models.

The 2x looked too boxy. Loved the sports bra. You rocked that look. I too have an informal lifestyle and have less expensive joggers that look tired and worn after a few months probably a good idea to go up in quality to get more value and good looks for the money.

You look nice in all the clothing you tried on. The parka is better in the 1X size because it falls more elegantly and if you really lose the weight you have planned you might have space for some extra top layering when it gets really cold. This way you won't need another coat.

I think the crew neck looks very flattering on you, and so is that shade of blue!!! I have my eye on the primaloft jacket, the inlet jacket and the triumph hoodie. I love this brand! I wish they weren't so high priced, but the way the clothes are made and material they use are such good quality. I get it. They will last you a long time to come. I think the 2x jacket looked more comfy, although it would defo be too big if you lost more weight. I’m just thinking that once you put a winter jumper under the 1x, would it be too tight/uncomfortable? I think the dark damson pants /tops would really suit your colouring if you wanted to swap out from black/navy at all. 😊. Athleta looks a great brand but I bet here in the UK, we can’t find it.

One thing to remember when buying coats as you want them a little on the larger size due to sweaters or wearing layers underneath. With that said the 1x looks better but if you can't move around comfortably I would rethink the sizing. I have recently purchased several items including a few bras from Athleta and the quality it great and enjoying my purchases.

If you plan to wear a sweater under the jacket keep the 2X. I have given up buying clothes that "almost" fit if I lose a few pounds. I know I will not reach for clothing that is a bit snug or uncomfortable so they sit in my closet. I liked the look of both jackets.

The coat is a tough one because it's looking like you're starting to slide down between sizes - 2x is a bit big and 1 x is a tiny touch snug as you said in the shoulders. If you need to motivate yourself to stick with your plan, maybe go with the 1x. You'll be so annoyed come January if you hang onto the 2x and you've lost more weight.

Hi Kathy - I’m a new subscriber and recently started watching. You give lots of good advice, and knowing Athleta clothes can fit petite plus apple bodies is a gem! I shop at Talbots a lot because of their Petite Plus sizing, and wish more manufacturers would offer the same. If the coats are on sale, nd you love them, consider keeping both but dotting the sleeves shortened a little. You’d be surprised how much better the whole coat will look. There is a nice, similar coat at Lands’ End you might look at, too. I’m in the same size category, but much bustier, making me hard to fit. I always have the very same problem - really can't make that decision because both sizes are just not right. You probably feel slimmer in the smaller and that's so important. Go with the 1X and make full use of the 2way zip.

Hi Cathy, the 2x looks too loose in the body. That being said, you need to feel comfortable in the 1x. We should always buy what fits us and looks good now, since as you know, weight loss is not linear. I find I'm somewhat in between sizes. I really need to lose 5 pounds to feel comfortable in clothes one size down, and my regular size is a bit loose. My solution is to make do with what I have for now.

Hi Kathy I like that coat, it looks so nice and comfy. I like the way the 2x fits you now as it does not look as constrictive especially in the shoulder area. The 1x does not appear to have enough room to layer a heavier item underneath. Looser works better for me because I do a lot of layering. I would imagine being in Canada you do a lot of layering, you might try your coat with the items you would layer in the colder weather and see which one feels best.

Can you sit down in the 1x when it’s zipped if you can I would go with that one , to pay that much for a coat the 2 x would eventually be way too big and then possibly a waste of money . The problem i have with sport bras is my daily shirts i wear are vneck and the bra is visable in the majority of my shirts. I love the comfort and support of a sports bra but it looks horrible peeking out. Especially its not lacy or pretty to look deliberate anyone have any ideas for this problem?

If you are definitely committed to losing more weight I wouldn't get the bigger coat as it could end up too big. The smaller one might give you some incentive.

Before you talked about the pink shirt, I looked at the side-by-side and thought it was a perfect example to show how v-necks are more flattering. Thank you for doing an Athleta haul. I love the brand and most of their clothes hold up well to wash and wear. I think you’re swimming in the 2x coat and if you plan on heavier layers underneath try them on. My favorite pants are the Brooklyn ankle and I need to size down in that style. Since Covid, I wear lots of Athleta and their clothes are great for travel.
