@X x Kenenisa and Halie both have 3 and 2 olympic gold medals respectively. They also have several other accomplishments such as a number of world records, silver medals, won countless champions in a number of distances and are considered one of the best long distance runner of all time.

Although finishing second, Haile greatly added to his legacy on this day with his superb front running in the second half of the race; extra incredible because of all of the injuries that he had in recent seasons.

Gebre selasi is the best of all time he is still winning races at 40 and setting road records, this guy is the most natural runner ever seen.Steve Ovette is probably the next most natural runner I have seen, but he didnt have the hunger.

@@glywnniswells9480 They averaged 4:10 per mile in the second half so it's unlikely they went sub 4 at any point. They must have come within seconds of it in the last mile though. It would be totally absurd if they actually went sub 4.

It's crazy to think about. I'm Ethiopian born and raised and ran 5k as a separate race in high school in around 17:30 mins (in Canada). My Ethiopian friend from my high school ran it in about 16:05 mins. We were considered to be amazing distance runners in our city but it's funny to think that there are humans running sub 14 mins in the SECOND half of their 10k. Unbelievable

That last 100 meters for Bekele was 11 seconds!! Thats incredible.

Let's not get carried away, it was about 12.9 or so. 26s roughly for final 200, and 55 seconds for final lap. Bekele is crazy good, but he is not capable of running 11.0s for 100m. I'm guessing you just made the mistake of using the orange looking line, which is not the 100m line. If you look at the 100m run from this WC meet, you'll see that the start line is very much back from the start of the straightaway on the track. The white dotted lines that Bekele runs over at about 26:36.6 on the 10k timer are what make up the actual 100m start line.
