I felt the same about the red vinyl jumper as a kid. Loved the jumper, but not so much the vinyl. I had it remade in a corduroy after mine peeled, which I love better. I had a ton of corduroy jumpers as a kid in the 90s. But now the red vinyl jumper has become super iconic and nostalgic! It has grown on me, so I leapt at the chance to get Nicki’s. Hopefully it ages better. Merry early Christmas! 🎄What a great haul! I buy myself my AG presents, too…this year it’s all of the Janie & Jack collection plus Isabel’s Y2K outfit.

Can confirm. Yarn hair ties were the bomb well into the 1980's. Also bobble bits, alligator clips with feathers and beads and ribbon barrettes with stuff hanging from them. The hair was a serious business before heading out to school. There wasn't much a late 70's and 80's girlie wouldn't put on their head. Happy Holidays! Glad you got some goodies you like.

The material that cracks and peels and disintegrates over time as it ages is called pleather. It is a cheap low quality kinda leather material. I have seen this pleather material used back around 1999 or 2000 on some of the Britney Spears doll's jackets and pants and also some older Barbie doll's will have skirts or outfits made of this material. It starts to breakdown after about 10 or so years even with doll's that are never removed from the box the material will still disintegrate over time while inside their boxes.

I wasn't sure if the term was officially pleather, but I am familiar with it :) Sometimes you can get lucky and it lasts for more like 15. I noticed dolls that are boxed with it have it the worst--when I opened my poor Super Hair Barbie ten years ago, as soon as I touched her it all flaked off onto my hands :(

Thank you! She had super frizzy hair when I was a kid (something about Josefina dolls from the early 2000s made them prone to frizz). So I had to flat iron her hair to get it nice and sleek. With a newer doll, you probably wouldn't have that issue :)

I actually don't iron my doll clothes (if they are really wrinkly, I just use one of those sprays to get rid of the wrinkles). But usually if you are ironing delicates, like AG clothes, you can put a small towel over them and iron that way (it adds a layer of protection).

And your laughter is infectious :))) I do have friends in real life, but most time is spent alone, which is fine most of the time, but since my little Priscilla passed away, your channel has been my comfort watch, it’s just the best. Thanks to you I went down a Cabbie rabbit hole, and discovered both the little figures, and more recently, the mini beanbags ❣️Cabbies have the most comforting faces ever ❤️ (I had one when I was little.) I might even get a full-size one if the perfect one for me pops up on the Swedish equivalent of eBay (forget international shipping haha). I’ve seen you wash and restore them a million times, and the scrubbing and laundry treatment doesn’t worry me, however the waterlogging and having to remove the head and put it back with zip ties does, so I’m too afraid to get a dirty one, esp since you two have mentioned how they retain smells. I’m not as clean as you (I’m kind of like the dolls you were tired of, minus the slutty part haha, at least right now! But yeah, dirty dishes, dirty laundry piling up, clean laundry waiting to be folded), so if they smell good and look good I’m probably just wipe of the face and call it a day. It’s so tricky that they’re half plush and half plastic! Though cute n cuddly enough to make up for it. The little beanie ones are easy to find in box, so not worried about them, again wiping should be enough (for me). But it’s a shame, as the big dirty ones are cheaper! We’ll see. Not in a hurry and very picky, plus have ordered a million minis! All your fault❣️❤️❤️ My favorite episode of all time is the “Annoying Personalities” one - every moment is pure joy - but the “biographical” parts are the best! Aw, thank you so much :) We do have plans for more As Told By Dollies, they just are very time consuming to make (so we tend to need more than just a weekend). We are planning a Christmas special again this year (it's all scripted, we just need to film it). Most of the time the Cabbies don't get water logged in the head. I only needed to decapitate maybe three of my dolls to sort out that issue. I think a lot of people just prefer to wipe stuff down rather than deep clean. For me it's a bit of an OCD tendency....knowing something hasn't been cleaned gives me anxiety (and believe me, sometimes I really feel triggered to clean my already clean dolls because I think they are dirty).

And modern cabbies smaller…) Just curious if I got an old naked preemie if it would be possible to get them cheap baby clothes. I live in Sweden, so shipping from Babyland might not be an affordable option. 🍼P.S. Can soft sculptures be washed in the machine as well? And what’s their human size? (You dry everyone in front of a fan? And heater?..)

The preemie human baby clothes fit the standard kids (who are 15 inches I think) from the 80s. The onesies tend to be a little big in the crotch region if they aren't wearing diapers. As for the Preemie Cabbage Patch dolls, they are really small and most human baby clothes are too big for them. Oscar and Baldwin (who are the 24 inch soft sculptures) fit 0 to 3 month clothes. I have quite the selection of cheap human baby clothes--you can even find them at the thrift store. Yes, you can absolutely wash the soft sculptures in the machine, and they can go into the dryer too (because they have no plastic components). The manufactured dolls have to air dry so their plastic parts won't melt in the dryer.

@ One more question! I’m so happy, won a beautiful soft sculpture baby no one else bid on! I still want a premie eventually, but both the tiny clothing size and the potential water logging makes me a bit more hesitant, but it’s bound to happen sooner or later. The cool thing is that the soft ones are like plushies you can sleep with! And I like that they’re big! I know that one of yours is bigger than the other, though, is it Baby Oscar? Who is surprisingly enormous for no reason? I wonder how come (it’s adorable ❤️). I’ve been super influenced by watching your videos over the years, and find myself drawn to bald (or bald with tuft) boys. The won I won is a girl, or is wearing girl-coded clothes. There’s really no difference with the baldies, right? Girls and boys are the same? My question is about head size for soft sculptures! Can they wear human baby beanies and bonnets?
