Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to produce these amazing videos for us aspiring healthcare workers. I do want to note that at 39:40, your proportion example of 12 dogs per 25 cats in a shelter does not match the problem and solution you propose when asking the total number of dogs in a shelter with 100 total animals because one would first have to convert the first proportion into 12 dogs per 37 total animals to create a cross multiply with xdogs per 100 total animals. Aside from this, thank you again for your commitment to future healthcare professionals!

Hello I love your channel thank you for providing the information that we need to study for the teas. I take my test next week 8/29 and I’m highly nervous ! I’m really scared for the word problems I struggle a lot with word problems when comes to math. When comes to the equations problems I just study over it until I understand what formula I need to use but when it’s word problems I’ve been practicing over and over again but always gets overwhelming for me and I get lost on what to do. Do you have any tips to help with math word problems cause I know majority of the math portion is word problems.
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 9 ай бұрын
Hi there! I understand that math word problems can be challenging, but with some focused practice and strategies, you can definitely improve your skills. Here are some tips to help you tackle math word problems on the TEAS: Read Carefully: Take your time to read the problem slowly and carefully. Make sure you understand what is being asked before you proceed. Identify Key Information: Highlight or underline important information in the problem, such as numbers, units, and key phrases. Five days is definitely a tight timeframe, but it's great to see you're approaching it with a sense of humor and determination! While it's a challenge, focusing on the most critical content areas and efficiently using your study time can still make a significant difference. Prioritize the subjects you feel weakest in and review key concepts and practice problems in those areas. Use the material that you find most helpful-whether it's summaries, practice questions, or video explanations-to maximize your understanding in a short period. Stay positive, take breaks to keep your mind fresh, and get plenty of rest before the test day. You're doing everything you can, and that's all you can ask of yourself. Good luck-I'm rooting for you to pull off that miracle! 😄🍀

So on 49:33 you said we divided/multiplied it by negative number - which means we have to invert the sign when is negative?
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 10 ай бұрын
When dividing or multiplying an inequality by a negative number, you must reverse the inequality sign. For example, if you divide both sides of an inequality by a negative number, like -2, you'll flip the inequality sign. Remember, this rule applies only when dealing with inequalities and dividing or multiplying by negative numbers. It doesn't apply to addition or subtraction operations. If you have any more questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask! Keep up the great work in your studies! 👍😊

Okay so when you did the converting decimals to fraction part how did you automatically come up with “25” to simplify that? I dont get how to just randomly pick a number that will work for both i think im confused on this aspect every single time i have to simplify something.
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 3 ай бұрын
It sounds like you're asking about simplifying a fraction that was originally converted from a decimal. When simplifying fractions, the goal is to find a number (the greatest common divisor) that divides evenly into both the numerator and the denominator of the fraction, reducing it to its simplest form. For example, if you converted a decimal to a fraction and ended up with something like 50/100, you'd want to simplify this fraction. In this case, both 50 and 100 can be divided by 50, making it the greatest common divisor for these numbers. When you divide both the numerator and the denominator by 50, you get 1/2. The "randomly picking a number" part isn't so random after all; it involves looking for the largest number that fits into both the numerator and the denominator without leaving a remainder. Sometimes, you might have to simplify in steps, like the example above, especially if it's not immediately obvious what the greatest common divisor is. A good strategy is to start with the obvious common divisors (like 2, 3, 5, 10) and work your way up until you can't simplify the fraction any further. With practice, this process will become more intuitive, and you'll get quicker at spotting which numbers to use for simplifying. Don't worry if it feels a bit tricky right now; simplifying fractions is a skill that improves with practice. Keep working at it, and you'll find it gets easier over time! 🌟📚🔢

It's great to hear you're gearing up for your TEAS 7 exam! My videos cover everything in the outline for the TEAS 7 exam. While there are some differences between TEAS 6 and TEAS 7, a lot of the fundamental content remains the same. The TEAS 6 study guide should still provide you with a solid foundation, especially in core areas like basic math skills, reading comprehension, and basic science principles. However, TEAS 7 has some updated content and question formats, so it might be a good idea to quickly review those changes. But don't worry too much - the fact that you're actively preparing and studying is already a big step in the right direction. Just focus on the material you have and do your best. Good luck on your exam, and keep believing in yourself! ❤️📚🍀👍

Hi Nurse Cheung, can you please explain how they got $80 for the word problem in 32:33? Is it because they did 100x.2=20 then 100-20? & How is 80% a decrease from 20%?
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 7 ай бұрын
Certainly! Here's a detailed rationale for the problem: Original Problem: If a store is offering a 20% discount on an item that originally costs $100, what is the new price? Rationale: Find the discount amount: To find the amount of the discount, we multiply the original price by the discount rate. Discount Amount = Original Price × Discount Rate Discount Amount=$100 × 20% Discount Amount=$100 × 0.20 Discount Amount= $20 This means that there's a discount of $20 off the original price. Calculate the new price after the discount: To get the new price, we subtract the discount amount from the original price. New Price = Original Price − Discount Amount New Price = $100 − $20 New Price = $80 Alternatively, we can think of this in terms of percentages. If there's a 20% discount, then the customer is paying 100% - 20% = 80% of the original price. New Price= Original Price × 80% New Price = $100 × 0.80 New Price = $80 In either case, the new price of the item after the 20% discount is applied is $80.

Great question! When dealing with fractions on the TEAS exam, it's important to follow the specific instructions given in each question. In some cases, you may be required to leave the fraction as is, while in other cases you may need to simplify it. Pay close attention to the wording of the question and any given instructions to determine whether simplification is necessary. If no specific instructions are provided, it's always a good idea to simplify the fraction to its simplest form, if possible. This can help make calculations and comparisons easier. Keep practicing and pay attention to the specific requirements of each question. Good luck with your TEAS preparation!

For the median section if i have a even number how do i figure the middle number
@NurseCheung

Great question! If you have an even number of values in a set, finding the median involves taking the average of the middle two values. For example, if you have the set of numbers {2, 4, 6, 8}, the median would be (4 + 6) / 2 = 5. Let me know if you have any more questions or concerns. Best of luck to you in your TEAS exam preparation!

HI I am bit confuse on the proportions questions. When we solve for x or y, it ends up making the other side same number. Ex: x+2>12 , so after solving we get x>10. if we plug in the 10 for x on the original proportion, the both sides becomes same. 12>12. so shouldn't we change the proportion to =?
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 3 ай бұрын
Hey there! I understand where the confusion is coming from, but let's clarify how inequalities work, especially when solving for variables like x or y. In your example, you have x+2>12. When you solve this inequality by subtracting 2 from both sides, you correctly get x>10. This means that any value of x greater than 10 will satisfy the original inequality. If you plug x=10 into the original inequality to check, you get 10+2>12, which simplifies to 12>12. However, this doesn't hold true because 12 is not greater than 12. This is consistent with the solution x>10, as x=10 doesn't satisfy the inequality; only numbers greater than 10 do. So, in this case, you wouldn't change the inequality to an equal sign because the solution doesn't include x=10; it includes numbers greater than 10. The original inequality x+2>12 correctly expresses that the left side (x + 2) needs to be more than 12, and plugging x=10 doesn't meet that condition. Therefore, x>10 is the correct solution, and there's no need to change the inequality to an equal sign. I hope this clears up the confusion! Inequalities can be a bit tricky at first, but with practice, they'll start making more sense. Keep up the great work! 🌟📚
