Atitlan Nature Reserve Tour | GUATEMALA TRAVEL VLOG

Today we jump on a boat from San Pedro to Panajachel on the other side of the lake and explore the Atitlan Nature Reserve.
Set on the mountainside just outside Panajachel, the nature reserve boasts multiple trails into the wilderness where we saw the most amazing tropical birds, plants and also monkeys! The reserve also boasts an incredible butterfly house which has over a thousand beautiful butterflies.

Nothing beats seeing wildlife, in the wild! Isn't it so cool how much they use their tails to get around! The park looks really beautiful and it must have been lovely to wander around! We have been in a few places like that, where you have to wait until the boat fills up, bit tricky if you are short on time haha! Thanks for sharing this and lets hope the government starts to help out with the conservation efforts.

There were a few different monkeys coming then heading off into the distance! I think some people offer fruit to the monkeys (or possibly the monkeys come and steal!) so they were swinging by to check if there was any food every now and then! :) Thanks for the support!

Ohh! This nature reserve looks beautiful! Really nice video, we really liked the close-ups of the butterflies 🦋 ! Can't wait to see the San Juan video!!

The butterflies have a huge space with all the flowers they could want to feast on, aswell as almost no predators so I think they were happy!! Yes looking forward to getting back down there to explore some more of San Juan! You guys sold it to us in a big way!! :)

A very nice vlog, Matt and Marti! We love butterflies and so far, we have visited the Key West Butterfly Conservatory. We will definitely visit the Atitlan Nature Reserve next time we are in Guatemala. Love the cocoon house LOL. Although Michael doesn't like monkeys - so that could be a problem

Couldn't agree more! Something like a zoo is totally not our thing, the wildlife here are free to roam the jungle and the butterfly program is to help boost biodiversity in the area of species that have seen a decline in the last 20 years so all really good work happening!
