The record (in the divisional era) of 42 innings is held by the 1969 New York Mets. The all-time NL /AL record is 56 innings by the 1903 Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Braves finally scored a run the next game against the Mets. The Braves’ Len Barker and Bruce Sutter combined for a shutout of their own and won, 1-0.
