Famu has shown much versitility in their presentation, for any band can just play loud but it takes much discipline to sound musical and be true to rules of musicality. Thank you 100 for paving the way. Hubba DOC!!!

How many fans that attend games listen to how you hold your notes, how loud u play or classic music? Maybe ex band members. HBCU,s are to entertain with soul excite the crowd,football team etc on and and off the field. Showmanship or showmanship that hypes. Which band made u say Daaamn!!!!!

Hands down one of the best battles I've seen. Great job both bands but I have to give the edge to Southern. When they came with "Something in my Heart" they stole the show and held on to it until the end...Again, great job FAMU & SU!

Compare the first song by FAMU- a great song,but famu's arrangement is SO simple and vanilla -to SU's first song- great sound, balance, and their use of dynamics makes sense. Well written, university level tune that keeps the hype up. Check out FAMU fans next to the band. Bored stiff!!

This is the band...i seen fam hand it to su more than once but i'm walking on old school status now. As of late su put fam to rest in the 5th. SU music is very powerful and in the 5th that's what people look for so it's hard for fam to win in most people eyes. I like music so blasting and trying to play the loudest don't impress me but su win with they book and intensity. Fam have a deep book but it's the same book. they need to update in my opinion. Notice I say in my opinion.

My assessment of this 5th: If U want RnB, Soul, & Hip Hop, then U R more likely 2 lean 2wards SU who many would say took the W with their song selection. If U want everything: RnB, Soul, Hip Hop, Jazz, Classical etc. and U R a true lover of ALL genres of music, U would say FAMU took the W. To me, it depends on what U like. SU came with a plethora of songs to battle, while FAMU brought something for everyone showing the multidimensional musical diversity of the 100. Overall, good job both bands.

Oh wow.... FAMU still playing the same old tunes i see. As much as i love the shows, the performances, and some of the selections that FAMU plays at times, after seeing this video I definately have to give props to SU for winning the 5th QTR battle. Seems to me like FAMU, needs to change up their shows a little more. I swear i just watched like 10 different performances and all their dance routines were the same exact dances excluding the songs. Poor FAMU!!!!!!

...Continued...Overall, I think both bands did a great job. I just think that FAMU needs to take it back to the drawing board with becoming more disciplined and unified in the way they perform. You can only rest on a legacy for so long before people start to notice that it's not the same.

They got famu on the book no doubt. But the sound quality is unmatched.The continuous wall of sound as opposed to the breath after every note and blow loud sound is clearly greater. But thats not what people want to hear these days.. The Return of the 100 will be something serious, and SU 2013 will be beastin. Im really looking for to the 2013 ATL Classic.

Looka here, Looka here.....I am a MEAC/famu/bcu/scsu fan to the core. I bleed MEAC band blood 4 generations worth and it pains me to say this but i love music. Southern gave Famu all they could handle here. The jukebox showed up ready. I have NEVER heard Southern play this good in all my 38 years. Famu acted as if they were scared to play. I don't know what it was but i am giving the 5th to Southern and if someone else says different, then thay are def or just luv Famu that much, Geez

FAMU is always lacking in the 5th (to me). They cater towards their die hards. Their intensity towards common interest is only seemingly on the field. The stands is for people that enjoy their tunes that they've played for some time and don't mind hearing again and again. They have a large fan base so they can get away with it. SU on the other hand is the band you can't wait to hear in the stands. They always got that new tune or two that you gotta hear live for that year. Neither sounds bad tho

I'm pretty sure FAMU was surprised how SU has changed. This is definitely not the SU they met up with 4 yrs ago. The arrangements are way more technical, and the sound is cleaner and a lot fuller than it has been in a while. FAMU seems to have fallen off a little bit, but not by much. The "W" goes to SU though.

I'm a trombonist(SU Fall '96), and I really was digging that fanfare, but no comparision to the Human Jukebox "full" sound. I'm gonna go ahead and give an honest assessment since some of the others seem to be a bit reserved. I'll first start by saying that this is not a biased opinion, as I have no affiliation with either band or school. I think SU took the 5th quarter battle hands down. They had a much better music selection that was far more entertaining, in my opinion. FAMU stuck with a lot of their traditional songs, which leads me to believe that their repertoire was limited.

...Continued...They were good traditional songs, nontheless, but I think some like myself were expecting a little more variety. I also think that FAMU was very sloppy in their song executions. There were times when it almost seemed like two different bands were playing at the same time because the timing was so off. However, I will give the halftime battle to FAMU, as SU's field routine seemed a bit formulaic.
