Part II of the Atlanta video, I take off in N70TB, my A36 Bonanza from Hartsfield-Jackson, the busiest airport in the world. You can see the taxi from Signature (the FBO) to runway 26L before I take-off into the low overcast. As always, with ATC captions and animated maps so you can follow along easily.

This one was too short. I wasn't ready to quit flying! Excellent Martin. Thank you for the videos. I'm currently looking for a Debonair and your Bonanza is the main reason. I think they're in a class by themselves.

Awesome video! I know there was too much going on at the time to smile for the camera, but, taking off from Hartsfield, I know you were grinning on the inside!!!

I sure was... when he told me to fly all the way to the departure end of the runway before turning, I knew I was I for a nice view of the whole thing. - Martin

Agree another excellent video and thanks for answering on the two VHF antennas, I'm going to check with my radio shop to see what I have. Great learning from your videos!

The ground at KATL (both for your arrival & departure) were incredibly easy, quick, and straight forward, for a large busy airport. It seems like they've got the FBO in a good spot, and away from all commercial traffic for the runways GA will be using. (Unlike SFO, or Dallas. Where with the latter, the taxi can be longer & more complicated than the flight! Kind of like your experience at Logan. : )

Yes, they really have arranged this well in Atlanta. The FBO is on the far north side of the airport, away from the passenger terminals, with easy access to a runway. Makes things easy.

Hi Martin - Thanks for posting another entertaining video! I noticed the tower asked you to "switch to you top antenna". This is a new wrinkle for me ... Was he referring to your comm antenna? Do you have two comm antennas and the capability to switch between them? If yes, why was that installed? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi Douglas, somebody else asked this question, too, so I will copy&paste from there: "I have two VHF COM antennas on my Bonanza, one on top and one on the bottom. I was using the one on the bottom, and he asked me to switch to the other radio, the one driving the top antenna (which in my case is the 430). The top antenna has better line-of-sight while on the ground, so it’s better to use that one - and i didn’t realize that it can make a noticeable difference, enough for ATC to ask me to switch." Why two antennas in different locations? Because one works better on the ground (the top one), the other one better in the air (the one on the bottom). On my airplane, the two antennas used to both be on the top; that changed when I got the L-3 Lynx NGT-9000+ which needed space for the large TCAS antenna. You can see that in more detail in another video I made: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKDTlISJf7CWepo

Hi Martin ... Well, shame on me. Not only did I miss par003's comment about the radio, I had previously watched the video about installing ADS-B but forgotten much of the detail. I believe both your Garmins have 16W output power - I'm very surprised the tower which is probably within 1/2 mile complained about the fidelity. Thanks again for the great videos, including the one on color correction!

Output power is not the issue; there can be problems with an antenna in the small space between the fuselage and the ground. I'm not an RF expert, so I don't really understand what is going on there, but I've been told it's not good.

Tower reminded you of wake turbulence behind the 757. Did you notice any effect, and, what did you do to avoid? Thanks. I enjoy your videos very much. Novice PPL.

Tom, I did not notice anything from the preceding aircraft, not did I expect to. Under normal conditions - meaning there's somewhat of a headwind (or at least a headwind component) and I stay on or above the glide slope, any wake from a preceding aircraft should be below me - simply by the nature of how wakes move with the wind and descend over time. Had there been no wind, or even a tail wind, then I would have had to do something different (more spacing, stay higher longer). Regards, Martin

Brian is on the right track. I have two VHF COM antennas on my Bonanza, one on top and one on the bottom. I was using the one on the bottom, and he asked me to switch to the other radio, the one driving the top antenna (which in my case is the 430). Martin Pauly that’s what confused me that ATC would know the difference while on the ground, I’ve been asked to switch to a different frequency by Approach/Departure so they could hear me better at a higher altitude, but an antenna/radio combination on the plane itself was a new one. Learn something new everyday!!!!
