Hey, sorry , but i was the guy in kart #3 at 43:40, that kart was 2 seconds a lap slower than all the karts we ran, we eventually fell to 13th place after that stint
@fortressofsoliddudes45975 жыл бұрын
Dude, that kart sucked! I was in it earlier in the race and I knew it was bad. But when I quickly caught up to you and passed you, I saw just how slow it was because you had been kicking ass the day before at the practice sessions.

I was on 60% of the time we win every time. Got a weight penalty 😬 (1/2lb too light) and it ruined our day. Finished 10th

@@buddychamberlin8616 My teammate almost had the same thing happen. There was no weight for him to take so he grabbed everything he could and duct taped it to himself.

Dang! Good thinking. I think I actually saw him with a water bottle duct taped to his legs 😂 after I got my penalty I realized I didn’t have the seat insert cause my teammate and I were sharing it. I was totally over weight with that 🤦🏻♂️

Nice driving. Some of those Sodi karts were faster than others out there.

Yeah, it's sometimes painfully obvious that there's no kart benchmarking going on. Kart 22 was awful at the 10-hour enduro in October; it's now February and it still sucks. I felt bad for the guy at 12:55 that got stuck in it.
@LONEWOLF_1-B35 жыл бұрын
@@fortressofsoliddudes4597 Yeah, he did what he could to keep you from passing there. I also experienced those differences between rental karts during my previous visit to AMP. Those Sodi karts were added back in 2017. Why do these rental karts vary so much on track with equal maintenance done by AMP employees? The differences in kart speeds and handling in the video made a difference on this track with high speeds and elevation changes.
@fortressofsoliddudes45975 жыл бұрын
@@LONEWOLF_1-B3 There's no way they do any real testing. I think they do just enough to keep them competitive for arrive-and-drive racing, but enduros? It's best to come out a day before and log their individual performances to know what you're in for. I'm 100% convinced the employees there are good enough to know when a kart isn't pulling its weight; they just don't do anything about it. Not to mention, I think they're about to bust out a fleet of Praga rentals, so maybe they don't care to maintain the Sodis anymore.

@@fortressofsoliddudes4597 that happened to me at X1 Indoor Boston a few weeks ago as the Sodi kart I was in was not tuned properly and couldn't get up to speed whatsoever. When I told the employees about my driving experience, they just shrugged their shoulders at me. One cannot go from sugar to crap from one race to the next!

That was me in the #1 kart in the first part of the video. I definitely was faster than you and didn't want to stay behind. The wave on the initial overtake was just from going in the turn a little too deep. Washed out more than I had intended and didn't want to run you wide. After I had gotten around you, I started cruising. Thought I was pulling from you but to my surprise I still had you on me when I made the same mistake in the shoe and caught some traffic. If you were all over me and wanted to get around, I would've let you through. However it seemed like for the most part I set a consistent gap between me and you.
@fortressofsoliddudes45975 жыл бұрын
With all due respect, who pays hundreds of dollars to enter an endurance race to go out there and cruise? When every tenth of a second per lap could mean a position gained, that just doesn't make sense to me.
@RobbyG7235 жыл бұрын
@@fortressofsoliddudes4597 Cruise is probably the wrong word. I was faster than you, got around, and kept pushing. Then I made that mistake in the shoe and realized that I didn't need to push that hard. We were a full lap behind 5th and half a lap ahead of 7th, so there was no need to push so hard only to potentially make another mistake. Especially since I was in the last 10 minutes of my almost hour long stint. So from there, I decided to run at around 80% and made sure I hit my marks. I was patient through traffic and just didn't want anything big to happen while I was around them. Even with all of that, I still put a pretty decent gap on you until I got stuck behind the slow kart a 33:00. Even after that I put another decent gap between us. I just found it a little disrespectful is all.
@fortressofsoliddudes45975 жыл бұрын
@@RobbyG723 I never meant any disrespect whatsoever, and I apologize if I came off that way. All I was implying in my video is that I moved over too quickly only to find that, in my opinion, our lap times weren't too different from one another, even without lap traffic as a factor (25:00 being a good example). I don't think I've ever encountered anyone on track in an enduro setting or otherwise that was consistently faster and decided to lay back and allow me to remain within a second of them, especially with the inevitability of eventual lap traffic, so naturally I wouldn't have thought that was the case here. Either way, racing with you was fun and it's always nice to have someone to chase, and having to manage lap traffic made it all the better!

hmmm group of my colleagues is looking to possibly enter the enduro this weekend. From the looks of these comments I feel like the claim on the AMP website that you need "no race experience" is a bit too generous. Sounds like it wouldn't be a good idea for people who have NEVER karted before to try to get on the track with you guys!

The enduro this weekend is sold out, so you wouldn't be able to join. But I would definitely recommend doing at LEAST one race on the track before considering an event like this.
