I don't think so now you mention it. It requires adding image files to the game. You could get someone with a pc version of the game paint your sails though.

Oh your playing singleplayer? I think you can host them though like on Ark but I've not done it on Atlas before.

Don't need to link accounts,you literally just need someone with a pc that can make custom paints and import to the game,then they paint your sails etc and it should be done. So yea if you had a second account on pc you could just do it yourself. If you mean,can you link your account to steam to save buying twice im not sure, but that should be a thing if it isn't, it would be handy for a lot of people 👍

Aight! Thank you! For the ppl painting by hand, I think you can rotate the sails with the Ctrl+Left mouse button.

Appreciate the video. Used to do this some, but it always got frustrating for me as is the case now. Followed the instructions, saved in My Paintigs as a .pnt , go in to game swipe, open file location, but its blank. I see the file in My Paintings, but the game isn't seeing it. Very frustrating

You have to save your current sail template first, then overwrite with the converter. U can´t load any image but it must have the template name for the matching sail.

Hey got. A quistion I've litteraly done every step in this video I get to the end were u change it from png to pnt and both slots change when u click the bottom one but when I click to change it to png the top one dosnt change at all then even if I save it I can't find it it just give me my out line of what I'm trying to customize any ideas ?

Hmm I'm not really sure what you mean. So you made your sail in an image editor and then converting it over in the converter programme? When your happy with it as far as I remember you just click save as select .pnt as file type, add the appropriate text to create sail you want, and hit save then put that image in the my paintings Atlas folder.

Im not sure why but the image is not showing up in game, any reason why this could be? saved as png where the other files saved

So I was successful on my I was able to make it happen on the large speed sails. But for some reason my friend who I play with thats on xbox don't see what I did. He only sees white sails. As if I didnt do anything.

I know and see this video is from 9 months ago. I have done all of the above and have the image and the sail outlined to do them, but cannot merge or overlay them together. HELP. I am doing junk sails and this is the furthest I have been doing sails so far. I struggled to even get the picture in and scaled it and just need to figure out how to overlay the picture onto the paint bucket filled sail outline

Nvm had to make the file name ending match the other in the ending, didn't think that made a difference

I've been asked this a lot recently not sure if something has changed, I know there has been bugs with sails but that was with images bit showing at all. But make sure your using a quality image before making it smaller and probably best to start with images that are no bigger than 1000x1000 to begin with, not sure if it makes much difference but I know 1k x 1k is the biggest image I have shrunk down to 256 x256 with no issues. Sorry can't be of more help, oh also they may look pixilated in the image editor when making smaller until you accept the size change.

Hey Moshman! Everytime i rescale something it becomes so ugly.. Is there like a specific pixel size to go for or is it all depending on the quality of the image you want to use?

It normally goes pixelated in editing but once imported to the game it looks normal again. As long as your making the image for the game at 256 x 256 and your using the correct file name for what ever your trying to apply the paint on it should work fine. If it doesn't then yea its possible its the image quality of the original image not being high enough to be made so small.

@@MoshmanGaming Tried 2 different high quality images. But once scaled down to fit the sail and imported it looks really bad. Must be the pictures that dont like being scaled down so much then :p

Hmm wish I could be more help, yea I would try do it again with a different image and see what happens also it could be the original image size, maybe even a high quality image that is at 1920 x 1080 res might not like being made into a 256 x 256 pixel

I followed this, but for some reason when I export to .png from Gimp the image quality reduces massively and the image goes quite blurry and pixelated. Am I doing something wrong perhaps?

No it looks pixilated sometimes but when the image is exported it Will look normal. Always has for me at least.

@@MoshmanGaming It looks fine in Gimp right until I choose to export to .png. Then it deteriorates a lot and then further when converting to .pnt. I don’t know how to stop that. It didn’t happen to your images but mine end up really blocky

Hmm that is strange im not sure what to suggest. Could be the images your trying to scale down. Have you tryed different images?

@@MoshmanGaming Yeah, I've tried about 10 different images from the internet, but as soon as I scale any of them down they get blurry.

So is this the stages you take Open a sail template in gimp (A actual template of a sail from the game as this will give the sail area and correct size of image) Drag in the image you want on sail Scale down and place in correct location Cover or completely remove template layer Export as png Import to atlas paint converter Adjust colour selection Export as pnt

Yea would be nice of they made it simpler but then if it was all done in game it might not be possible to make some of the amazing sails you will see in game.

@@MoshmanGamingall they would need to do is let you copy and paste a design from your files on to the flag and make it cost gold or something. Then you can have anything. A lot of people don't even bother as it is now and so instead of having a ton of awesome sails, mostly you see plane Jane colors.

I'm guessing it's not possible like that as it's done the same on Ark as well. Maybe they will simplify it eventually though but once you have done it a couple of times it's pretty straightforward. I find the hardest part making a design in the first place haha

@@MoshmanGaming It's weird because so many other games have it without issue and they make a ton off Ark as 50k still play it every day. It seems lazy of them to not implement but maybe they just don't care or it's not a priority.

Its definitely not priority, that's something if we see would be after the modular ship system is finished I would imagine. Hopefully they will at least streamline how it works though, it's a cool feature to be able to make your own sails and flags etc

Editor buttons? In GIMP? man that would be a video on its own, I just explained the basics for it, that isn't the point of the video you can use any editor your familiar with the part really needed is converting the image to the game.
