Worked on board a Sister Tug to that. Ex US navy. Peter-pan seafoods, Seattle 1973. I was young and the smallest. Was sent into the Crankcase. Scared the hell out of me. I had just read the book “ Sand Pebbles”, where a Hand was sent into a crank case and the blocking gear slipped. Thanks for the video brought back lots of memories

There are still a number of Vessels in the Northwestern US and British Columbia in Canada operating Atlas Imperial engines. That is a fine looking engine room.

Reversible diesel yes? Is # 4 pushrod for cylinder decompression or air starting?

Hi Simo... We have atlas imperial diesel engine in a port tugboat and we are thinking in change those for a modern motors. We use the tugboat for shit barge. What do you think about that?

What is the purpose of the 4th pushrod with the long rocker arm. I see that there is an inlet and exhaust pushrod and a third one for the air start valves, only in operation at start.

The long rocker arm on top is for the fuel injector. These engines have a fuel rail under pressure and the injectors are basically spring-loaded needle valves operated by pushrods.
