@AJtheory The doo-wop, R&B, and primarily girl group influence is especially prevalent in his work with Deerhunter on the Rainwater Cassette Exchange EP, namely the self-titled debut track and Game of Diamonds. It's an immediately accessible influence even to a musical novice's ear, he simply personalizes it and therefore the sounds are characterized by a gravitas his references do not possess. I'm guessing the morosity of his touch upon the classically jubilant doowop style is what eludes you.

He played a festival in my city a few weeks back, and he was a pretty big jerk to the crowd. I love his work with Atlas Sound and I enjoy Deerhunter, but the things he said to our crowd were a big turn off.

@momsbluedress I think you missed my initial comment. My response above was part of a conversation about how he abused the audience at one of his shows I went to. I understand that we're all douches sometimes, so I'm still going to buy "Logos." But musical genius doesn't exempt an artist from respecting the people who came to see his show, who ultimately paid his plane ticket out there.
