Hey folks, I'm working hard to get back in the good graces of the KZbin algorithm, liking and sharing this video around would mean a lot to me! Now, here's that cool stuff! SuperDerek Streams on Twitch: www.twitch.tv/superderekrpgs/ Wander Stars Demo on Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/1575810/Wander_Stars/ Free Indie RPG Crystal Depths: quackdev.itch.io/crystal-depths

I recommend the Crystal Depths game. I am a huge proponent of not letting old consoles die. The GB and NES constantly have new games. We should support the developers especially when they are putting out good content!

It's a side hobby for sure! I doubt many JRPG fans would click on a video about espresso though, sadly. There are some espresso KZbinrs who do a phenomenal job though. I recommend Lance Hedrick or James Hoffman. :)

As a Sega kid growing up I always knew Sega made the best RPGs. They seriously do not get the recognition they deserve in that field. I really wish I had the money to just hire some of these great game devs that got canned so they could make my perfect dream JRPG. It would be a win/win for everybody.

I got bit by the Lufia 2 Ancient Cave bug as a kid, and have been begging for more games to offer that kind of game mode, or even standalone games that work like Ancient Cave for decades. There have been a few flash RPGs and small mobile titles over that time, but I need more! Such a fun design.

I think these are usually called rogue likes or mystery dungeon, but are typically more like action RPGs. Like Shiren the Wanderer. Not exactly the same, but similar. :)

It's almost to the point where people should just never buy an Atlus game until they release the better version of it a year or so later lol. Just makes me laugh cause you see in game news of Sony people being angry cause they keep releasing definitive versions of games that came out a year or so ago. But that's Atlus's whole business model like since forever ago and everyone loves them

Love the channel, and happy to see the JRPG Weekly Update. I would just prefer the trailers off to the side, so that Your/Derek's head doesn't cover 50% of the trailers.
@SuperDerek4 ай бұрын
Thanks! I'll definitely do that in the future. I meant to frame it so I was off to the side so there would be room for trailers, but I accidentally sat in the middle of the frame like a dingus, so I played around with background removal for this one. :)

Good to hear that you’re in a better headspace, Derek. I enjoy this weekly update format. Kind of a quick run through of the major news. Then we have Hit Point for more in depth analysis. Also I totally understand your thoughts on playing SMTV Vengeance. After a little internal debate, I decided I’m going to play it right away because I had such a good time with the original. Just an excuse to play it again and maybe enjoy it even more. Thanks for the awesome content as always!

On the opposite SMT 5 issue, I didn't play the switch version. I own it, I started it but put it down cause it just wasn't great on the switch so I wanted to wait for a definitive version that Atlus always has. But I wasn't expecting 2 complete story paths that both could potentially take 70+ hours each. So now trying to get into it, I know it will take months to finish the game from my perspective. Idk, ima get Vengence but starting it right away may take a bit. We will see

As someone who always advocated for RPGs and Japanese games on Xbox, everything these last few years has been such a letdown, and this has just been too much. I know they haven't been really relevant in the gaming space for nearly a decade now, especially in the RPG community, but it's still heartbreaking, especially to the creative and hardworking teams out of a job because some investors need to make number more big.

I'm not playing the SMT V rerelease until someone else who hated it tries it and gives it a thumbs up. I do hate the Atlus way of doing things, especially since they tend to make such stellar games.

Shin Megami Tensei/Persona. Atlus need to get their shit together soon. Re-releasing their games, with new content, to make people buy the game twice or three times, has worked so far, but it will not last. Each day, increasingly more people have grown disillusioned with the industry and its abusive practices. I haven't played SMT V because a) I don't own a Switch (but I have emulators), and b) I knew they would re-release the game with new content. Problem. Original releases are not the complete game, we know that. We all know they will release the game again later with more content, not only the DLC, that's what Atlus does. The re-released games must be considered the complete versions of their games, but they are only possible if the cut-content versions (original releases) sell enough copies. For the moment, Atlus fans are mindless consumerists, so they will buy either the original release or both the original and the re-release, but in a few years, more people will skip the original release, and when enough people just do that, Atlus and their masters will wrongly think people are not interested in their games any more, and then the re-release won't happen. It could be avoided if Atlus released the complete game from the start.

I'm incredibly excited for SMT V: Vengeance! SMT V is already one of my favorite games, but how much is being added to it makes it seem like the game of my dreams. From what Atlus has stated, it seems like this content involves ideas they originally had for the game, but couldn't implement because they didn't have the budget for it. I'm very eager to experience the new content, especially to see how differently the story can turn out from the original. All of the new gameplay features are also enticing and I want to see how beautiful this game will look on my PS5. Before the announcement of this game, Metaphor: RE Fantazio was my most anticipated game of the year. Now SMT V: Vengeance is what I'm most looking forward to, I want to experience how one of my favorite games can improve. When I look back at the 800+ hours I put into SMT V after it was released, I'm now very excited at the prospect of how the joy and satisfaction I experienced while playing it could potentially be elevated to an even higher level when playing this release.

I'm late, but I made it! Man, I hadn't even realised that Rain Code was out - maybe I just forgot? - because I had been looking forward to it. It must not have made much of a splash, which is a shame. I don't understand the thing about saying you don't like tropes: it's a bit like saying you don't like stories 😅 I guess overused/badly utilised tropes is what they mean, but it's not what they're saying! It sucks about Xbox. They've bought so many developers and then just left them to languish. Some of them its been over a decade since they made anything noteworthy!! I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling energised and motivated: looking forward to seeing you more!
