42nd CAA 1976 somewhere in the middle of Emergency when Fundamental rights were suspended then Our then PM Ms Indira Gandhi strike an Idea of introducing Fundamental duties too. She Introduced Article 51 A in Part 4A too in the constitution which comprised 10 original fundamental Duties. The eighth duty which is read to develop scientific temper , Humanism and spirit of enquiry and Reforms. Although the term Scientific temper was first used by Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru in his book The Discovery of India. Scientific temper is good way of developing secularism. India has huges potential in scientific temper since the ancient times like Ayurveda that is being ignored in the present time. Developing scientific temper will develop individual which will in turn develop a better world. So, She thought it necessity to introduce in fundamental duties as a positive concept ( not binding) in a voluntarily manner. Thank you Ma'am Thank you Drishti Team !
