A absolutely love Z, I'll never forget being a nervous new game dev at my first PAX in the Indie Megabooth, and he took the time to come up to me and say how much he loved my work, which was humbling and made me feel less nervous. Excited to see Serenity Forge keep growing!

This has to be in my top 5 favorite videos that you've made thank you so much for the insight! I feel a bit more confident now that once my game is ready to pitch that I'll also be able to talk to a publisher more competently. Thank you again!

This was a brilliant video thankyou Thomas for hosting it and to Z he seems like a real honest and down to earth guy and his company seem to have a great philosophy that I believe any developer would be happy to partner with.

As a somebody doing game dev on a side, this exchange offered a lot of insight into otherwise mysterious publishing, solo (or small) gamedev world. Talking openly about how you worked together, the budgeting, incentives for all parties and practicalities of making a successful (both from design/artistic and money perspective) is very helpful for anybody looking to enter this market. Way more useful than a lot of GDC talks, thanks a lot for that!

Tom, thank you for this one! Also, I got to see you from a different perspective, and I loved it. It was cool seeing you sitting there with that thoughtful look. Let's dive deeper. I think people would love to see you open up more; I certainly do. Good luck with Father!

I feel he may be talking about the way platforms like epic etc could be considering taking over the game market by making consoles obsolete. In the way that their servers will have the hardware to run the graphics and handle performance of the game and the user only needs a dumb pc/console without the need for a top end graphics card and then connect to the platforms server to play their games. I think this is the route for the future of gaming, and as you have mentioned 'Subscription Service' to gain access to their games on each platform.

Hey Thomas, I've watched pretty much all of your videos ever. These ones with publishers have been awesome, but could you possibly do one about the following subject? Allot of these talks have seemingly been about single player story driven games that's very easy to do a vertical slice for. In my case I'm working on a 16 vs 16 wizard 3rd person shooter. I have a hard time picturing offering a vertical slice when the games full potential needs atleast 20 players. Would any of the guys you know who publish be able to maybe talk about what would be different for multiplayer games being pitched and how they go about evaluating those as publishers?

If you released games that didn’t get many sales, but you still had a respectable game released under your name, would that be acceptable? I feel like marketing is one of my weaknesses and that’s why I’d like to get a publisher in the first place.

Warning! The tip at 49:10 must be taken lightly. I know a developer who made millions doing just that. Its not a bad idea, just needs to be done right. By the way I'm a dev too nearly done with my tower defence dungeon crawler RPG "Dwerve", free demo on steam. 🕹
