I'd say, a drum algorithm is a specific way the way, the music develops... while usually, you have one rhythm that is repeated through all of the track, in Drum'n'Bass, at least, in some tracks, there's so much going on in percussions and background, and it's always shifting.

Only in the last few years there is an atmospheric dnb revival both in production and mixes, check out the Spatial radio show series hosted by ASC, you can find them on KZbin uploaded by other people. And also check out the releases from the Spatial and Curvature labels.
