I started diving into this genre of music since my senior year in high school .. started with the mainstream stuff , like tiesto, oakenfold etc, then moved on to deep, progressive, and tech house, while listening to a lot of dnb .. . progressive and tech house took a while for me to adopt while I adopted deep house much quicker. atmospheric dnb / liquid dnb has to be my most fav dnb and one of my fav djs in dnb is LTJ Bukem.

Oh I completely understand what you mean, I see it all around me on a daily base... And on the rare occasion when I let them hear a snippet of this kind of blissful sound design they look at me like I'm the 'weird kid', they really don't get it, but the pressure by them and media can't suppress the feeling I get when listening to any of the genres I mentioned in my comment so I don't care, I even feel kinda bad for them not being able to hear it the same way I do. :) So yeah, it feels fantastic.

Ofcourse there also exists simple mainstream dnb, which is mostly jump up rubish. But IMO dnb and also deep House are 2 electronic genres which definitely contain a quality branch which is alot inspired by jazz and classical music and... (containing more complex chords for example). Pop music is often characterized by using 3 tones which build a minor or major chord and the vocals are often the most pronounced element of a track. For most people this is enough to get carried away.

I'm trying to find an old youtube liquid mix vid with a picture of a sunset in a city street. Unfortunately? Personally, I am really thankful that most of dnb remains underground because I can still remember the affairs with the Pendulum and their going mainstream attempts - but dnb is still alive, still intangible and surpassing. However, I realized I might be wrong - I am so old now that I only listen to the good old stuff and I thus totally neglect to notice the new sound (probably because of the Pendulum).
