The last post on this issue was a year ago so I just wanted to find out if the icing problem has been improved upon to the extent where it's no more susceptible than any other Paramotor engine.

Hi Eric! Interesting that one of the solutions is to reintroduce an external pulse regulator line. Although my 185 was an early version that was equipped with external pulsing, I know that newer 185s and the Atom 80 have internal porting to replace external pulse system lines. Internal porting of course reduces components and therefore potential failures. Does adding it back on in the case of the solution for the Atom 80, increase pulse pressures? or is there just enough heat from the crankcase through the pulse line to warm the carburetor housing above the freezing point? Friends I have steered towards the Atom 80 are going to need to fully understand both carb icing and how these solutions will help prevent the problem.

Just to clarify ,on a late model MY19 Atom with external pulse line . A upgrade carb kit is available?

So this is a upgrade to the upgrade? Ive heard the newest upgrade replaces the air box too. Do you know anything about that? Thanks for any help.

Once you go into the dark corners of the store room, you never come out... Could be just me though! 😂

Hi Eric. Carb ice is usually associated with low thrust / throttle settings where the “butterfly” is almost closed. I’d expect icing at tick over on the ground, especially with damp cool high humidity conditions like dew. The preflight power run would expose icing by giving you a cut or low rpm. Alternatively, the same problem could occur near cloud base at idle. Does the Atom 80 ice at high power settings ( pre mod ) ?

It does, I believe it's an airflow issue unique to paramotors.

So, just to confirm, this brand new fix was already included stock on MY19 motors shipped out last summer?
@aviator4 жыл бұрын
No sir, this fix is FOR those motors :)

This is why, when I get to the point financially and health-wise where I can get involved with this sport, I won't buy from anyone else. A problem was found, a fix was created, then a better fix was created and everyone is told about it openly. I assume new motors will either have this setup from the factory or be fit with it before they go out.

Yessir, the motors we are receiving now have the latest updates. Thank you for the kind words!
