今年は「雲の影」50周年ということで、PINK FLOYDの隠れた名盤「雲の影」と、

代表作「狂気」が 発売される前年、 1972 年発表の隠 れた名作「雲の影」。
このアルバムは映 画「ラ・ヴァレー」 のサウンドトラッ クということもあり、短い時間で製 作され、存在も地 味ですが、実はピ ンクフロイド史上 最もロックでポッ プなすぐれた曲が 多く収録されてい ます。
この年、3月の日本公演では「狂気」の曲をすでにやっていたということですが、「狂気」のレコーディ ングを途中何度か中断して製作されたこのアルバムを聴くと、徐々に大きくなっていく当時のピンクフロ イドという存在から一時的に離れて、自由に音楽を楽しみ、ロック小僧に戻って、生き生きと演奏するメ ンバーの様子が思い浮かびます。
「ラ・ヴァレー」を見ると、その映像とフロイドの作った音の関連性はあまり感じられません。レコーディ ング前にメンバー間で何度もミーティングを重ねたとのことですが、パプアニューギニアでの刺激的な シーンがたくさんでてくるこの映像なら、それに沿った神秘的な実験はいろいろ出来たはずだと思います が、なぜそこでよりポップでロックだったのか、不思議です。単に気晴らしに音楽を楽しみたくなったの かな? しかし、ところどころにフロイドとしての新たな進化という感じもありつつも、ポップにロックに解き放 たれた感性がそのまま「狂気」へと流れ込み、そのエンターテイメント性を一気に高めた大きな要素となっ たと感じます。
ということで、今年の原始神母のツアーは、「雲の影」に加えて、1977 年リリースの「アニマルズ」か らの新たなる 1 曲もついに初登場。 プラス、ピンクフロイド、オールタイムベストという形でやる予定です。
ありえない、このレアな機会を多くのフロイドファンと共有したいと思っています。

Pink Floyd Tribute Concert
50th Anniversary of Obscured By Clouds
In 1972, one year before the epic The Dark Side of the Moon was released, a hidden masterpiece, “Obscured By Clouds” came into being. The album was created for the soundtrack of the film, “La Vallée”.
Although a movie soundtrack, the album, in my opinion contains some of Floyd’s most pop, and rock recordings.
When I look at this film, it’s difficult to make a connection between the soundtrack and the cinematography. It is said there were many meetings held before production, leaving us with the question of why they decided on pop and rock, eschewing an avant-garde or more experimental soundscape more conducive to the stimulating and exotic film location of Papua New Guinea.
However, there is the feeling of a new evolution for Floyd throughout the sessions. I feel that the pop and rock sensibility of this effort, flows directly into "DSOTM".
For our upcoming tour, Genshishinbo, in addition to “Obscured By Clouds”, will introduce one new selection from “Animals”, plus all time best selections of Pink Floyd.
We are looking forward to sharing this rare collection with Pink Floyd fans.

C'est grandiose. Je suis un ancien fan des Pink Floyd que j'ai vu en concert dès le début des années '70, mais bien sûr je n'avais pu assister à une représentation d'Atom heart mother en live. Ce long morceau est un chef d’œuvre bien moins populaire que beaucoup d'autres oeuvres des Pink Floyd, toutefois, il combien à merveille plusieurs monde musicaux.: Musique classique, rock et même musique contemporaine plus abstraite . Un vrai voyage musical !! J'ai toujours chez moi, outre le cd, l'album 33 tours acheté dès sa sortie . Merci d'avoir posté cette vidéo. Désolé de répondre en Français.

I love Pink Floyd, but I love melody more. This 'song' has nothing at all to hold it together to turn it into music. It's merely sounds. Music is all about turning emotions into acoustic patterns. But this acoustic flow follows the patterns of a herd of cats. This is 23 min and 48 seconds of a drunk trying to put together a puzzle that is missing most of its pieces. Those who fancy themselves as musically sophisticated have convinced themselves in their acoustic egotism that they hear something grand in this, a musical subtlety that is buried somewhere within this cacophony, when the truth is there's simply nothing there but an orchestra spending 23 minutes and 48 seconds warming up to play actual music, 23 minutes and 48 seconds that unfortunately got written down and is intentionally repeated, and thus imitates the process of music without ever BEING music. At the time of its creation, the members of Pink Floyd were laughing at their own silliness at how far they could wander from the essence of musicality. These days they merely laugh at those of us who due to our own egos will take it seriously. The artist knows full well when they are stretching and framing their floor cloth and hanging it on the gallery wall with a mysterious sounding name for those who are full of both money and themselves. The artistry is in allowing the customer to convince themselves that they hear or see something that exists only inn their own imagination. This tune is of that ilk. It's the 5 star chef boiling hot dogs and Kraft mac and cheese for lunch at $500 a plate. It's the music reviewer convincing themselves that because Pink Floyd CAN create amazing music that everything they create MUST be amazing music. Pink Floyd is proving them wrong, and they are too slow to accept the proof. And a final analogy, the emperor has no clothes. In this case, the emperor is everyone who is convincing themselves through some sort of group dynamics that they hear something here that doesn't exist. Was this some sort of contractual obligation to the record company? All in all, it's really a terrible waste of time and talent.

Wow, a really amazing performance of this piece -- Ron Geesin would be proud! Amazingly faithful to the original, I don't think I've ever heard anyone handle the dissonant musical collage part 3/4 of the way through so well. Every little nuance was there, from the ethereal keyboards to the "Silence in the studio!". Kudos to the musicians and choir, and whoever had the cojones to put this whole thing together.

It's a mystery to me, but you're right. I've never heard any of the members of Pink Floyd say anything nice about this piece or the album itself. I think it stands on its own as a great piece of composition and performance. I wonder if there might have been other, perhaps unpleasant things going on at the time the album was recorded that influences their attitude about the piece.

Perhaps they are more focussed on the confusion and lack of direction that went with recording the original rather than the quality of the final song. I think I am right in saying that Ron Geesin didn't actually finish the job and the final album version is somewhat due to John Alldis? It was also on the back of the abortive attempt to provide music for the film Zabriskie Point. However, it is clearly popular with fans - and rightly so!

This was an experimental project that Pink Floyd made in their early years. It was a necessary step in order to get to the next step. Because nobody else had tried this type of musical piece on such a grand scale it was open to interpretation. ( the Moody Blues and Deep Purple had success with symphonic backing and they were quite successful). So Pink Floyd decided to go further with this concept and I think they did a brilliant job. The suite is varied and full of interest and deserves a fond place in their vast library. I like it a lot!

原子心母については、当時の東芝EMIのプロデューサーであった石坂さんが、千駄ヶ谷の神社付属のホールで、レコードコンサート開いて、そこに参加しました。アンプが火を噴いたりして。建築科の学生だあった私は彼らの前衛と構成力にと。やがて、噂のエコーズで痺れて、狂気で大ブレーク。ビートルズがサージェントペッパーズハートバンド録音していたアビーロードスタジオで、同時に、ピンクフロイドが狂気の録音をしていたと。受験勉強の英語の先生は彼らの詩でした。
