The ATOM controller can technically be used for these types of games, but it's not ideal because it lacks a joystick. Instead, it relies on a D-pad for movement, which can make controlling the camera in 3D environments more challenging and less precise.

Would the Switch recognize this controller as a single Joy-Con or would it map as a Pro style controller? I’d love to use this controller for games like Mario Party, where it forces you to use a single Joy-Con.

It would be mapped as a pro style controller, and unfortunately could not be used as a single joy-con for games that require motion control like Mario Party.
