Infallible dictator My rules apply to all. You'll heed me, bleed for me I am life. I'm death. I decide your fate You empower me. You'd even kill for me Guzzling down your dreams - the tears of unheard pleas I drink, Imbibe with such delight the fear that floods your temporal shell Raging red rivers and streams - the kingdom of my shadow Where dread of man in endless night revives my every cell To those who doubt - your wounds will never heal To those who question my creation - I'm not real I am pain. I have had ppl tell me this sounds like noise to them, and I get that, but as a musician myself, I think we hear music differently than ppl who aren't musicians. When I listen to music I also see it in my head, and I can tell how difficult it is to play, and can pick apart the different sounds. I don't think a lot of ppl can do that, and that's why heavy metal sounds like noise to them. To me this is like a symphony. I can imagine trying to play with these guys and struggling with these rhythms they come up with I never hear anyone else use. This band rocks.

Musicians do.

@@strawberryhaze8836 for example, how many lists have you seen Kurt Cobain on of the greatest guitarists? All of them, bc they don't know what they're talking about, it's the easiest music to ever play, and it's what I learned on, but you couldn't tell a non musician that bc they wouldn't grasp what makes itheir music easier to play and why Cobain is a much better song writer than guitar player, he was awful at guitar, that's the truth, but you'll never hear an average Joe say that, just musicians.

That's one thing I love about Meshuggah, when they write about gods or godlike beings, they never reference names or religions. It's all very purposefully abstract and vague. So, to me at least, the god they're speaking of evokes thoughts of a deity that no mortal has ever even been aware of. The "Colossus" referenced in this song for all we know could be an extra-dimensional omniscient being that feeds on black holes and enslaves entire solar systems. They leave it up to the imagination, like how good horror movies don't show the monster very much. These dudes are geniuses.

It's haunting, dark, eerie, but at the same time is refreshing and uplifting. I feel bipolar when listening to meshuggah they're math based writing style is almost indicative of binaural beats. It triggers certain chemicals in the brain along with confuse our natural need for order and organization. Meshuggah is the pentacle of dissonance done beautifully.

There's a reason EVERY metal band looks to Meshuggah as the heaviest band and wishes they could play what they play and how they play. They set the bar. period.

@@t.m.a6669Many try, none succeed. Meshuggah are far and away the best in this area of the genre, I don’t even like to consider them a djent band as many flippantly seem to categorize them. They’re their own brand of progressive metal
