I am no expert regarding KZbin videos like this but in my opinion this is by far the most perfect video I have ever seen. If the intention is to find someone who is engaging communicative and has an amazingly confident and yet self effacing vibe who can explain the practicalities of a set up and why a ninja v useful not just to her but maybe to us, no pressure and who illustrates her points and talent with credible and exemplar clips... then is is the perfect example of success. I could go into the perfect daylight, casual setting, her hand gestures, the tone and composition of the frame, her slightly designed denim/chambray outfit, naturalistic but designed...a busy background without interfering with her outline, the white walls the muted colour tone her tan....just enough out of focus to give depth without resorting to overt balls of bokeh lights in the background. If this was a 3D render it couldn’t be more perfect. But more importantly the presenters personality shines, the entire vibe, edit... is so lovely in tone, so charming and disarming, warm and inviting, informative and inspiring. If I didn’t have one already it would make me run out and get a ninja ASAP. Just perfect in every way. Well done to any and everyone who was involved and thank you.

Thank you Agne(s) and Atomos. I wonder how can you film 75% of a wedding with a 85 mm lens, especially in small places ? And why don't invest in a quality zoom lens like Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM ? It's your style of filming that require prime lens. I had Samyang lenses and I switch to Sigma Art. For me it's big difference. I love Sigma Art, especially 18-35 f1.8. Stay Safe!
@agneharrisfilms
@agneharrisfilms 4 жыл бұрын
Good question, I did start out with a 24-70mm f/2.8 Canon which was a great lens, but eventually moved over to prime lenses as they keep my shots more stable (i.e I don't ruin them by zooming in and out during a 'moment') and consistent. Also less decision making means less stress, although there definitely are moments when I wish I could just zoom out and get a wider shot... I have a video on my channel (Agne Harris) reviewing the Zeiss Loxia lenses if that might be any use to you, although they too are all prime lenses. Haven't tried Sigma Art, will give them a look. Thanks and stay safe back at ya!

Best of both worlds is to have two cameras, one with a zoom and one with a fast prime. 24-70 or Sigma 18-35 on one camera and a fast 50 or 85 on the other. For bright daylight events or when you need more reach in the zoom, 24-105 works really well. This is what I use these days for events and documentary work. In saying that, I went through a period of using just a 70-200 for an entire event, and I've shot quite a few events and jobs using an 85mm at least 75% of the time. Look up Philip White wedding videos, he shoots on just a Voigtlander 75mm and 35mm, mostly on the 75.

@AtomosChannel

Hi Hammet, For playback on an Atomos device, you navigate to playback mode via the play button to allow you to sift through your folders of the inserted SSD for playback and metadata tagging. If you require more info, don't hesitate to reach out - we're happy to help :) Cheers, Atomos

Does this apply for playback directly off the camera? In our setup, our footage writes directly to the SD card in the camera. @@AtomosChannel

Good information and handy tips especially highlighting your early mistakes and how you have rectified them through your experience shooting weddings. What LUTs do you use for Sony cameras?
@agneharrisfilms
@agneharrisfilms 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, glad you found it useful. I've downloaded my LUTs from a fellow videographer's website years ago, can't remember who it was now or if they're still even offering them, but I use them at around 20-30%. I don't think they have to be specifically for Sonys, but because of Sony camera's slightly greenish tint, its useful to use LUTs that have a warmer hue

Great video! I really like the minimalist setup. I'm predominantly a still portrait photographer but have been keen to learn video, so really appreciate content like this. And I can definitely see how an Atomos would make filming so much easier! The little bit of footage that I've shot so far I always struggle with seeing the screen and making sure I'm in focus (I'm also manually focussing). Where is that accent from?

Very nice and entertaining video. I'm also using Sony a7iii, but I like my setup heavier (rig, V-mount, monitor, matte box, etc) coz I have shakey hands. I tried shooting handheld few occasions, but it didn't look good. Now, I use tripod, monopod & gimbal a lot but stil, sometimes I get shakey footage. I'm doing corporate highlights & outdoor events. Any advice?

Try Lumix S5 II or S1H. They have amazing stabilisation. Its very hard to get shaky footage with that cameras. With some practice you even move with camera and imitate gimbal shots.

Nice video, convinced me to buy an Atomos monitor! One question: how do you know which shots you want at 60 or 120 fps (for slow motion), and which at 24 fps for "normal" shots in advance ?
@agneharrisfilms
@agneharrisfilms 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'm glad! To be honest I film the whole day in 50fps and then only decide what's getting slowed down in the edit. Everything get's exported at 25fps anyway so you can't tell the difference how it was filmed.

I love my shinobi. But isn't that taking too much time to turn this on? Holding to press the button for more than 4 seconds in a run&gun situation is a bit stressful. I wonder how you manage it.
@agneharrisfilms
@agneharrisfilms 4 жыл бұрын
I see what you mean, but it's not really too much of a problem. Normally I'll switch it on and then just leave it on while I'm using my camera a lot. When there's a gap in action I'll turn it off and not worry too much about it, and if I do need to really quickly go film something and don't have time to turn it on, I can just flip it down and use my camera screen until I can organise myself to turn it back on.
