Here because my dentist just finished my root canal yesterday. Going back in two week for a follow-up. I was really scared of the procedure (I'm a scaredy cat that jumps at EVERYTHING), but my endodontist was the sweetest guy (and he's a huge giants fan just like me). Overall, the procedure isn't bad. You don't feel much after you're numbed up. You'll hear the drilling but that's nothing to be afraid of. Don't be scared. You got this💙💙💙💙

because those videos are in vivo, this looks like the tooth was already extracted, hopefully because the access and opening are way too big and using gates-gliden burs is obsolent when you are not trying to remove some separated files :) also placing some temporary filling of this material into tooth with so thin walls may lead to fracture .

Oh, and while on this extract wisdom tooth #1 and the one right below (just because it has a big filling). No real explanation of why remove #1... other than she doesn't have hers. Going for a second opinion and hope never to go back to her. She marvels how the filling on wisdom tooth below was done, is so tight back there... makes me wonder how skillful she is, especially since she is tiny with tiny hands.

I've had 2 molar root canals, 1 done twice and they both ultimately failed. Both developed abscess at the root and had to have the teeth removed and implants placed.
@leianehiltz2486 Жыл бұрын
Same here. So discouraging and hugely costly. I'm certain the first one that failed and had to be pulled was 100% caused by dentist error. I only half joked when I asked to keep the tooth to take home. Once I was home and not in so much pain from the infection I examined the tooth. One root had a small piece of metal sticking out the side of one root. As if it had been accidentally drilled through at the wrong angle. This 2nd one is still in my mouth, strangely throbbing painfully (have an appointment in 2 days). 3 years ago when it began to throb from an abscess, the dentist at the emergency clinic felt it wasn't salvageable but sent me to a specialist root canal guy. He felt he could save it, no problem. $1500 later it felt "okay" but always a bit tender when I bit down. It's throbbing again very painfully. I don't quite get that since I thought the nerves were dead... how can I feel so much pain when I bite down/and even when I don't? I can't help but feel root canals run a much higher risk of holding onto nasty bacteria deep inside microtubules (think that's what they're called). Frankly, I think there's no reason a root can't be sterilized thoroughly .... Surely. Too much human error in a field that can't be held accountable. At least not in my country (Canada). Ever hear of many successful malpractice suits in my country? Nope! Just rarely is allowed to happen. You can lodge a complaint with your provincial dental board but "they cannot compel a refund or any action". Just investigate and warn if one of their own is found at fault. I know with medical doctors, they pay into a fund that has billions to cover any legal costs to protect doctors. Guess who ultimately pays those fees? You got it. Tax dollars and patient fees that are charged to the government. I'm furious at the helplessness of paying huge dental bills, even with good dental insurance. The prices are so high that even the amount a patient pays after insurance can prevent you from getting needed treatment. I'm sick of being unfortunate enough to be "treated" by, not 1 but 2 absolute quacks. 13 years ago, one persuaded me that replacing all my existing, healthy fillings with composites. Not only did he not protect me from full exposure to the mercury from the amalgams with no ventilation or even a dental dam... Causing me to get very sick for a month. He didn't make any attempt to seal the fillings correctly. Swapping out to composites are a fine idea but if done improperly.... You can end up with 13 cavities in a year, which happened to me. Lost 2 teeth and had abscesses, needed my 1st root canal and fixing others with amalgams. Flash forward to 3 years ago, I needed a couple fillings repaired, then another, and another... Lost another tooth. I began noticing dark spots at the gumline but was dismissed as "staining from the amalgam". A few months on, small holes so I demanded x-rays. Last week he told me I would have to lose ALL my back teeth. All but the single implant I was able to save up for. That's the only tooth I will have aside from my front teeth. Wonder how long they'll last without any supporting structures behind them. The bone loss and gum recession that will happen will threaten my front teeth if pigs fly and I can afford implants for all those teeth. I had one dentist quite candidly tell me "implants are for the wealthy". After the x-ray results were shown to me, as I began to sob behind my mask... I wasn't charged for the x-ray! Unless I get a bill in the mail that is I'm just so tired of fighting for my dental health only to end up with such a poor outcome. Huge understatement! My only hope,if I'm somehow able to save enough to take the dental tourism route. At this point I think the risks are just about the same as seeking care in my own country , for 1/4 of the cost

No no it’s a misconception It’s your body and how it respond to treatment is also one the causes of failure Otherwise root canal treatment is one of the best treatment to save your natural tooth in the mouth

@@AtoZKidsdental I'm sure you're right, if the job is done correctly yet I can't dismiss how this particular tooth had the same material used to fill the roots coming through the side of one root. It never settled down after the work was done, kept getting infection. Also take exception to paying for work repairing filling...all while decay went in unchecked in same teeth. It's absolutely true that my auto immune disease has damaged my teeth. Yet, I don't agree that the patient needs to come home from an appointment, use a flashlight and dental mirror to identify a problem with teeth just filling and have to ask for an x-ray to confirm what a colossal waste of time and money it was to repair these very same teeth. That's the dentist's job. Early on he said it was just staining leeching from the amalgam and wasn't until holes actually formed at the gumline that he agreed to follow up with my concerns. It's a costly mistake, both financially and for my health. No reason it couldn't have been caught earlier, potentially saving one or 2 teeth. At the very least, spare 3 of them from being repaired. It's like frosting a cake that's moldy on the bottom. It's about accountability and yes, even (god forbid) a little compassion

When i do it i don't cut around so much this is not an good example of conservation of tooth material, because of dentist like you patient tends to break there crown even after capping,try more conservative approach cut only in carious lesions and keep the access opening as small as possible use dental loupe or dental microscope for same , this is to much cutting even on a extracted tooth

I have a cavity on 8 in the corner and I need a root canal on may 11 but I have to go to a different dentist because the one I go to doesn’t do root canal’s but the new one I’m going to doesn’t have n2o and I usually get nitrous oxide to calm me down when I’m getting decay fillings so now I’m kinda scared…

Doctor, i’m using AH26 for sealer. Is it ok to prep post space immediately after obturation?? Will it have any negative effects on the apical seal? I read AH26 needs 9 hours to set.

For posterior RCT - crowns are indicated as the best final restoration...
@AtoZKidsdental2 жыл бұрын
@@organicchemistryvideos1539 the question was about seal of coronal chamber and when root canals are planned then it hardly matters whether it’s a posterior tooth or anterior tooth The reason is pretty simple that tooth after root canal treatment is nonvital and over a long term is liable to fracture so crowns are done to overal protect the tooth in functional state

Quick question! Every single file you use after the one used to determine working length is measured at working length first right? Including the protapers? Or just until you notice resistance? Or can you just use the Apex locator to check it has reached apical constriction?

This is not always true some people are just prone to these issues no matter how well they take care of their teeth unfortunately genetics play against them such as myself I am very anal about how I clean my teeth everyday and at the end of the day I spend about 30 min cleaning and flossing my teeth and everything and here I am still having to get a root canal. All my back teeth have been filled more than once. Unfortunately it runs in both sides of my family and my dentist says I take really great care of my teeth and gums I just unfortunately got the crap end of the stick by genetics. Yes everyone should take absolutely great care of their teeth we only get one permanent set and to replace even one is ridiculously expensive but this comment is not 100% right because you can do everything your suppose to, to a T and still have so many issues such as myself 😢
