Muster and Thiem played each other in 2011 in the first round of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna when Dominic was 18 and Domi won. I was in my teens-twenties during the absolute tennis mania of the 1970’s and I idolized Borg. I loved his game; on clay he could stand at the baseline and be a human backboard, clearing the net by six feet with the most topspin that could be produced by a human being with a wood racquet, or he could beat you on grass or hard courts. Many don’t truly understand how good he was because anyone judging him today can’t factor out the wood racquet - it was a completely different game. Now I have confirmation that my faith in Borg’s game has been well paced: Rafa, arguably the greatest clay court player in the history of the game, picked Borg. He gets it.

Safin could have been one of the greatest if his commitment level had been right.
@Nakke1443 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with his commitment, that is just a myth that keeps on living on year after year even though its not true. Injuries is the real reason. It all began in 2003 when he missed pretty much the whole season through wrist injury. When he came back he was on fire instantly and wanted to get his ranking back up where it should be, but this meant he played too many matches between start of 2004 to start of 2005. His knee went as a result early clay court season 2005, and he only played a handful of matches the rest of the year after winning the AO. His knees kept on bothering him the rest of his carreer, and i think the final straw was his shoulder injury in late 2008, as he announced before the 09 season that it would be his last. Marat was a fierce competitor, and didn't want to be second best to anybody, especially after he already had been world number 1 and was equally as good, if not even better, than Federer in his prime before his body started falling apart. Marat is the tallest and heaviest player to ever have been world number 1, and this is probably the reason why he also suffered so many injuries. He was really athletic and moved incredibly well for a big guy, but i guess this also took a toll on his joints and muscles :/

Kurten is from a really poor country of the Third World, once again, noone have heard about him...

@@CayetanoenJapon1980 you a keyboard aggravator with little or no knowledge on tennis coming from Brazil has nothing to do with his greatness as clay court specialist the footballer PELE came from the same third world country have you heard of him ??? probably not as he is from a third world country

I know you are not native English speaker, i can see pretty well all your mistakes, so i will try to do again in slow mode for you my little mexican't: Brazil is a THIRD WORLD country, a bananan republic and failed State, a real shithole. Pele?? Please, don't insult my inteligence, he is nothing compare with DI STEFANO, with Zidane, with CR7, with Pusckas, please, don't compare latinos with Europeans, is really a joke...

I heard all the Pete love and I’m like poor Andre and then finally someone picked him haha
@michelez7154 жыл бұрын
I'm glad Pete got picked the most, because he was a supreme player, who never got the love he deserved, when he was playing. Now I think more people appreciate him.
@Romans8-94 жыл бұрын
@@michelez715 Because Pete lacked class and came off as arrogant so he was never a fan favourite. He was clearly the best of his era though, no question.

Tbh they are all extremely lucky to have been able to play against fed and nadal it’s crazy thinking that 10 years from now there are going to be players wishing they could have played a match against one of these legends

2008 Nadal VS 1978 Borg at RG, we need a Time Machine to make this happen, i think the field would have to be renewed after that one game. Definitely the most beastly thing i can think of, not just in tennis, but in sports history.
@fortunasp53915 жыл бұрын
Luigi Manzelli Now we would have to consider technology and stuff. Old rackets or new rackets? Fitness techniques?
@luigimanzelli37865 жыл бұрын
@@fortunasp5391 well probably new methods and equipment would make it more spectacular, still a sight to see anyway.

Luigi Manzelli That would definitely make it better to watch. In that case, nadal would win for sure.
