As someone who didn't watch S1, it caught me off guard when you didn't roast Shanghai for the 2023 season til I remembered the 0-40 season. Just sad how they went from the 2020-23 core to a budget team that ruined Viper one chance at ROTY feelsbad.

I thought players like Heesu, Iris wouldn’t make Shanghai as bad especially with how Viper was carrying, but man it seemed those guys were checked out felt like Viper was 1v5 whole year.

Supposedly coach Moon wasn't the best with strategy and left that to assistant coaches in the past, so there's that as well. Makes sense for them all to be deflated

I think a cool video idea would be to do a comparison of the two OW2 champions to see how they would match up with each other in a head to head matchup. Also can do the same for the OW1 champions as well

Really hard question to answer tbh. I’d say that meta plays a massive part. The combination of fearless and hanbin trumps someone with higher peaks and the same amount of coverage when combined, but if the meta requires a lot of counter swapping, someone’s strengths really get amplified. Of course the backline is the same, and the DPS pretty easily goes to mayhem. More star power, checkmate showed flexibility as well as the ability to carry, and mer1t makes a serious argument for best hitscan of OW2 while simultaneously being trusted to play the sym or bastion role that other hitscans struggle with.

I would still go with Reign 2023 over Reign 2021 it’s easily there best roster ever with 4 s tier players, and they had the most dominant half of a season we have ever seen in league history yes they choked in the playoffs which is why you could argue there one of the biggest disappointments ever, but there dominance in mid season is hard to look over. For Dynasty i absolutely agree about 2020 over 2022 there was just something magical about that dynasty team when there backs were against the wall they played great who expected them to go up 3-0 on Shanghai in the may melee, who expected them as a 12 seed to make the grand finals beating Gz, NY, Fusion, Shanghai and pushing peak Shock to the brink when Seoul signed Profit and Gesture the expectation was for Seoul to finally have a deep run for once and I’m glad they did one of the best underdog stories in league history.

I would love to see the greatest what if from each team for all of OWL. Stuff like what if lullsish and Ellivote got to play for 2020 Washington, what if shock got Vega in 2023, what if the 2020 titans got to play, what if fusion didn’t have visa hell in 2021 and much more with speculation in their performance and placement. Would fit the wrap up of owl videos

I think Fusion would of been around the same wouldn’t of been as good as the top 2 may of finished ahead of Seoul tho there dps were really weak, Maybe Shockwave gives them more of a punch, but Carpe, Eqo, Rascal had done down ends to there career, Mano, Poko were both mediocre players at that point, the backline is elite, but can’t carry the team.

the atlanta take is way too hot, they had their flop at the end sure but by this logic 2020 dynasty was their best year, 2023 atl was the most consistently good (except the end of course) and had higher peaks and id argue 2018 shock was worse but from fans perspective yes 2023 fs

It seems fitting the two worst teams in the league in 2018 were the most flexible and stomped the league but Shanghai’s roster is probably the best starting roster that we’ll probably never see again with the most dominant playoff to grand finals run only dropping 2 maps

What made Houston in season 3 even sadder is because they kept showing signs of life against good teams to the point where you would not be seen as crazy to predict them against higher tier teams but it was always the map 5 or whenever Rawkus would get switched it sucked.

Man, imagine what toronto could have been if for even 1 year (aside from the "Marketable" year) they didn't destroy their team. Like even if they had just been able to keep 1 or 2 players from their 2022 season into their 2023 season. Ofc they wouldn't have gotten american tornado in 2023, but with all the players moving from apac over the offseason. Maybe toronto could have done something noteworthy. 🙃

how is shock's worst year 2023? + having atlanta's best year being 2021 cause they went to gf which makes them have a better run but then picking philly 2020 despite that year not being philly's best year run wise. You choose philly 2020 for their best year despite not having the best run of their franchise because they were dominate team that year... but atlanta 2023 wasnt a dominate team that literally also had rookie of the year + an actual title? Like I dont disagree with philly 2020 choice but if you are gonna bring up "runs" why ignore philly's 2020 not being their best year run wise. 2018 shock being a bottom 3/4 team vs 2023 shock being a middle of the ground team really matter when it comes to "expectations"? Like it just does not make sense to me but you do you ig.
