1) when leaving groups become stable after being removed from the parent molecule, IT IS A GOOD LEAVING GROUP!! 2) The bigger an atom is, the negative charge is more distributed in it making it stable, and also making it a good leaving group. Thus I>Br>Cl>F 3) If a more electronegative atom carries a -ve charge, it is more than and a better leaving group than the atom which is less electronegative and carries a -ve charge 4) While comparing leaving groups, if the differenciating elements in the compounds are situated down the group, WE COMPARE THEIR SIZES and if they move along the period WE COMPARE THEIR ELECTRONEGATIVITY 5) If the leaving group is a gas, then it is a better leaving group

Could you please arrange the vids in a proper viewing order in the (Organic Chemistry) playlist so people like me don't have to browse the entire playlist for the video which SHOULD be watched next rather than what's next up in the playlist. 😌😅

sir if leaving group has strong tendency to go out of the reaction so why would it participate in the reaction.
@akshaymaheshwari14837 жыл бұрын
Rohan Meena it is trying to make space for an atom / group of atoms which will be more stable (better bonded ) in the compound . So it actually doesn't take part in the reaction if you think of it that way , it is just creating a site for attack
