Even a 3⁰ free radical is more stable than benzyl free radical! Also in the resonating structures of benzyl free radical there is disturbance in aromaticity that's why it is less stable as compared to allyl free radical!

Suppose there is an electron withdrawing group auch as CN attached to C atom with free radical. Will this be more stable by resonance than 6 alpha H carbon free radical?

Sir thermochemical calculations and data show that allylic radical is more stable than benzyllic radical by 2 kJ/mol.

Brahmakumar Shouharda Ghosh I will clear ur confusion , Benzylic radical is more stable than allylic . But on the basis of bond dissociation enthalpy allylic radical is more stable.

@atpstarkota Allyl radical is more stable than benzyl radical. You taught wrong that benzyl radical is more stable than allyl radical .

what if a group such as F or O is attached the the benzene ring (the benzene ring is connected to a methyl free radical)? will we consider only inductive effect of the F or O or will we consider mesomeric effect too?

Sir 8th jan shift 1, question on free radical is quite confusing , they have reacted the primary free radical alkyl, not secondary free radicals,, according to NTA answer key, sir I'm very confused in this question, I'll be thankful if u cleared my doubt
