I fell in love with Dhanush's character. He was so ready to be patient with Rinku and let her understand herself what the reality was. Never forced her, never got angry.....just waited. That literally melted my heart, cos often times people are not very patient with people suffering from mental disorders. Sara Ali Khan really deserves the praise for this one. The climax scene broke my heart, and her acting was on point.

As someone who struggles with mental health, is this movie realistic? Well, not entirely, to say the least. But does it tell a deep truth in a beautiful, artistic way? ABSOLUTELY. This is not a documentary, if you expect that, you will be disappointed. People need to understand that art works in many ways. I have cried my heart out, experienced catharsis, walked away richer and more complete person. Akshay was made for such a role. I've never seen SAK in anything before and she was fantastic in this, without her charm this wouldn't have worked. Dhanush was great. Music is indescribably excellent. What cinematography, what storytelling! Absolutely amazing movie and I can't even tell you how moved I was and how glad I am I saw it.

What's more, remember there was not only this big traumatic event she blocked out, but also everyday abuse from her family, which from some point at least she knew caused the first event too. That's definitely circumstances in which people would create such illusions. There is nothing unrealistic about the premise. Some of the things are Bollywood-ised, like Sajjad getting sick when she takes meds, but there actually is a lot less of that than you'd think. Overall, I've found this movie a beautiful and poignant representation of how we create our own reality as a coping mechanism and how hard it is to let go of it and embrace reality, even if we already feel on some level that truth is better for us. The whole speech Rinku gave about how her "lover" and "husband" have very different roles in her life and she desperately wants to keep both, her lover being more perfect than anyone else (also in the sense that she could just use him to satisfy her emotional needs without regard for his, so there was no difficulty involved in that relationship) but at the same time having that awful disadvantage of not being fully real, fully satisfying, and yet being so important in her life, in fact up to the point of meeting Vishu the best part of her life and the way she survived... All that was done SO well, so truthfully. It resonates with me SO much. ETA: Also, the way Sajjad appears and disappears in sync with when Rinku feels safe or unsafe, feels herself changing (falling for Vishu), feels she's about to have to change her relationship with reality and take responsibility for herself... Man oh man, this is SUCH great stuff, so perfect. As I've said, the Bollywood touches are there to serve telling that story, not just for the heck of it.

I love this movie, in real life mental patients definitely can't heal for 40-60 days, it took years. They definitely should wrapped the story for entertaining purpose but I think they got it all correct and beautifully. Vishu and his friends definitely understand as a doctors they are, to play along with Rinku until she herself the one that let go of her traumatic past. I love Sara's acting here, I can see the depth of her character. It feels like Rinku herself knew in the very deep of her head that Sajjad is not real.

Honestly, please don't jude it by the trailer. Today's I watched the movie and it's more than the trailer. It's totally different from the assumptions we made from trailer.
