Not to mention the consequences of PTSD on a society. On top of this, Russia is headed towards total demographic collapse. Ethnic Russians have a negative growth rate, most of their college graduates are moving out of the country. Over 2 million middle class Russians (the most important economically productive demographic) moved out after the war and will never return. Medvedev only threatens nuclear war on days ending in Y... oh... Also, he's not the chair of the security council, he's the *deputy* chair, meaning he's the chair when Putin doesn't feel like showing up, but when Putin shows up (which is always), Medvedev just sits there and nods his head while Putin speaks. He's made threats of nuclear war on over 10 occasions already, so him saying it again doesn't really instill any sense of fear in me at this point. Also, Russia's nuclear doctrine is pretty clear on where their red lines truly are. 1. In response to a nuclear strike on their territory, 2. In response to an attack on their early warning systems (which would indicate an imminent attack), 3. In response to an attack on their launch capabilities (including attacks on communications systems), 4. In the event that it appears that the Russian state's collapse due to invasion is imminent. Strangely, Ukraine *did* attack their early warning systems several months ago, and Russia didn't really have any specific response to the attack. The US did tell Ukraine to stop attacking them, however (possibly because of the clearly defined red line).

You talked about how poverty went up, but Javier said that's because once they ended the price fixing, the poverty line went up due to no longer using the unrealistic fixed prices to measure the poverty line. So when the poverty line went up more people went into poverty, but they didn't actually get more poor, the measurement method was just changed. Javier said when you account for that poverty is about the same as it was before him. He said the metric that you should be looking at is GDP per capita.
