A paid off truck would give you more flexibility with your family in the long term. It's a tool you use to maximize profit. Time is the commodity we can't make more of. Which shop will stand by their work? The other option is look into a cheaper rental,if your pulling ISO you don't need a hose rack and all the extras. I'm not sure how helpful this was ,but I wish you the best.

If they are placard certified at that shop. Call warranty and see if they will reimburse you on repair.

Its a easy fix let the company pay the repairs and just have another payment. Keep it till you pay chocolate off then when your ready swap the motor Cummins 👍 rent the truck mean while . You will be alright great thing is the company will keep you Rolling 😊

First of all, bro, I want to say I love the attitude. I know how you feel. I’ve been there before. On the bright side, you work for a company that is willing to help you out and in this day and age that is very rare yes it may cost a little more than what you would like but at least you still have revenue coming in and the bills are still getting paid. And your truck will be good to go soon enough I like the idea of the 60 series and running local after the truck is paid off. I think that is a great idea. Anyways, I hope you’re doing well. Hope the families doing well. Holler at me sometime brother.

Hey, you can buy a used Yellow tractor at Ritchie Brothers Auction for 4500 dollars and use it while you put a Series 60 in the Pete and not burden yourself with debt. Hope everything works out. We are just in the beginning of a great trucking recession. Bill

Build personal emergency fund and business emergency fund, size dependent on size of business, but for one truck I would recommend 20k$ business emergency fund minimum to plus business credit cards and business lines of credit

I doubt if it will need a 'complete' overhaul .... as a mechanic I would go with letting the workshop investigate thoroughly and repair (you trust this garage) loan a vehicle from your company and continue earning .... When 'hot chocolate' is back in service set a target for replacement (maybe 750,000mls) or start considering a future new truck .... I agree with Chris (806 Driver) and wish you well .... regards from England.

Warranty work seems like they have to run info pictures etc back and forth to validate whatever. I think paccar is a good motor just electronic/Def/injector issues but they all have there issues. If you pay the 7k to shop can you use PO from Heniff? If that's an option you can spread out cost s get truck back sooner than with Peterbilt and enjoy a paid off truck very shortly. Just a test of faith before your blessing she got another 500k in her.
@peterwood95698 ай бұрын
Paccar extended the warranty to 750k.
@billtodd65099 ай бұрын
Those Paccars are pretty good until they get some age on them, then any honest mechanic will tell you, huge amount of plastic connectors and sensors get brittle from age and heat, and unless its sheer luck, a lot of them can get damaged during an overhaul and all that will skyrocket your final bill. Bet you will need a new camshaft and compressor,, and of course, a fuel pump.(oh and probably injectors).
@youtubeisawesome24878 ай бұрын
if the oil is black film its a engine oil cooler, if its green tinted its a transmission oil cooler, you dont need a overhaul unless your have massive blow by, compression symptoms are air compressor, egr cooler, or head gasket. black or darkened coolant is a egr cooler no oily film. cummins engines have there own sets of issues, 30000 engine hours or there about needs a overhaul,

Ignore the Paccar haters. I have owned Trucks with. Cummins, Detroit and Paccar. And the honest truth is I have experienced problems with all of them. I have been running My Peterbilt with the Paccar MX 13 for the last 4 years And so far it has been a good Truck. I am up to 545,000 miles at the moment without any major problems. But I have to make a decision either buy another Paccar soon or keep it going until I have an in frame. Neither of the Cummins engines I ran lasted above 650,000 miles before needing an in frame. So I always work around the basis of getting an in frame at around the 600,000 mile mark. Hope this helps..

But paccard MX 13 is a problematic engine so was the isx Cummins . . But paccard has held up for millions of miles. Mainly that a lot of shops can't work on them. Due to computer Davie 4 software. And the fuel mileage sucks. So does the Cummins X. Too bad can't get a DD 15/13 or a D 13 Volvo. Better fuel mileage. And International just came out with a new engine that is said to be great fuel mileage torque to house power.

Option 1 repair the heads yourself if you have the tools and know how. If you don't know how you can watch videos on it. 2. Pay out of pocket because it will cost you less then waiting for peterbilt or renting a truck.
