@@idksomethingcool2360 I don’t think Atsumu insulted Hinata bcoz of his size, he insulted Hinata due to his poor defensing and serving skill bcoz through the match it is hinted that they saw karasuno’s previous matches. And in the first half of match he was like the only good skill Hinata has is his jumping abilities. But in the later half of the match he recognised the hunger Hinata has for volleyball and how he is a ‘scary partner to Tobio’ bcoz the love and hunger he has for volleyball, how he is a ‘Monster’ and for me that was the moment Atsumu fell in love (non -canon)/ started admiring Hinata (canon) bcoz Atsumu has the same hunger for the game which his twin brother lack and that’s why he was impressed at the end. Btw Atsumu is not wrong, Hinata has a lot of room for improvement. He is a good attacker and spiker but until now he is just that. But good thing is after being the ballboy he realises it and want to improve it.

i'd say oikawa also recognised hinata for his good qualities when he first saw him, despite shoyo still being fairly bad back then lmao. he couldn't receive, block or serve properly, but oikawa was still impressed by his quick attack and overal athletic ability and even complimented him after the practice match.

Yeah... I was thinking about this. Of course, it's normal for a setter to want to play with a spiker like Hinata. However, they tend to see two things that they identify as drawbacks: 1. Hinata's extrovert and dork... and -at the same time- intense personality. (“I will not be able to stick to his crazy rhythm”) 2. His lack of technique. (“He has a long way to go yet”) I was wondering how Atsumu didn't seem to care about these things. He's the best high school setter of Japan. He should care about these things, right? You would think that because he makes terrible first impressions. People who don't really know this character will think Atsumu is an arrogant jerk and that's it. But the truth is... [MANGA SPOILER ALERT] 1. Atsumu has an extrovert and intense personality too. I think he's the first setter with those characteristics (Koganegawa is extrovert, but he's not as intense as Hinata, Oikawa is intense and extrovert, but again, not as extrovert and dork as Hinata). Atsumu means “the urge to eat”, it means he has the “hunger”. Do you remember what Washijou sensei said about Shouyou? He said Shouyou has this “hunger” in exchange for not being tall. I think Atsumu has this greedy hunger too, AND he's extrovert and dork enough to keep up with Hinata. There is this part in the manga where Hinata is watching a Heitor's match. Atsumu gets near to him and asks him if that's the guy that used to be his partner in Brazil. Then Hinata talks about how Heitor is a good friend and how he will be father soon. Atsumu is amazed and says congratulations for Heitor. Then the match showed Kageyama's advertising for curry and Atsumu and Hinata laughed about how serious he looked. They were really comfortable laughing together. I liked that scene, because when I read it I realized it was the first time I saw Hinata saying something not related to volleball at all (Heitor about to be father) to a setter and the setter ACTUALLY listening and giving him a friendly answer. The first time Hinata is laughing his ass off with a setter and the setter doesn't think he's crazy or “too much”. And Atsumu is dork enough to get along with him, yes. There's this part where Bokuto does acrobatic stuff in the match against the Adlers to... entertain the public? LOL Well, everyone is laughing at him, and both Hinata and Atsumu want to do it too. Name something dorkier than that lmao. SO I think Atsumu doesn't care about Hinata's personality because he's just the same as him. 2. Atsumu is not all about technique. Most of setters (including Kageyama) love volleyball with passion, but they love technique too. Actually, the reason why Kageyama used to say Hinata was not as good as him is because of Hinata's lack of technique. Technique is something important for setters. It is important for Atsumu too, but I noticed that IF Atsumu gets excited and moved, technique is nothing. Technique doesn't matter anymore for him, as long as he can feel his heart happy while playing volleyball. This is something Osamu said to him once. “I don't love volleyball as much as you do”. Osamu was better in technique (Aran said this, and he has known the twins since they were kids), but Atsumu was the one who was crazy over volleyball, the one who loved volleyball like a child: tiredlessly and in a pure way, with all of his heart. Selfish, like a child, he wants all to himself. Every set, every ball. He laughed in pure joy (like a toddler lol) when Osamu changed from spiking to setting for Aran in the match against Karasuno, damn it. There's no way he would ignore someone who feels the same for volleyball, even if that person doesn't have perfect technique. As long as the player gives everything and plays with their whole heart, he will feel it too, he will have fun and he will respect and recognize that player. Shouyou managed to move his heart when he was grateful for Kageyama's tosses and asked for another tiredlessly, because Atsumu understood how Hinata cherished to continue playing volleyball. It's funny, because just like Hinata should have felt “I am not the only one, I am not alone” when Atsumu set the super quick for Osamu, Atsumu should have felt the same in that moment. “I am not the only one, I am not alone”. With these two reasons, it's no surprise Atsumu was so eager to set for Hinata. Delving into those two, weeks ago I read a fanfic AtsuHina where Osamu witnessed how Atsumu fell in love with Shouyou. He was thinking about how Atsumu was so different from him, and finally he gets to the conclussion that they are different because God created Atsumu thinking of Hinata Shouyou. This is related to what I say in the sense that I started to think that Furudate created Atsumu this way because he wanted to create the perfect partner for Hinata. I love Kageyama (and Hinata's harem lmao), but I do understand the nature of Tobio and Shouyou's relationship is to be rivals. They were rivals from the very beginning, even being part of the same team. The whole story shows how Hinata used their rivalry to be a better player so that he can defeat Kageyama. Atsumu is the contrary. He wants to be Hinata's partner, even being part of the rival team. He is not meant to fly with him, he is not a crow. He is meant to be a fox, the smartest animal when we talk about playing on the ground. He is meant to make his spiker fly and he takes pride on it. The fox rules on the ground and the crow rules on the sky. It's like they complement each other at the level of essence. Damn, I love these two. Edit: Sorry if there was any grammar mistake. This is why Atsuhina is my favourite ship from Haikyuu. Atsumu literally sees Hinata and his potential, he wants to be on his side, his partner... Hinata always tries to prove people around him that he is good and he is trying to be better but there are only few people who actually believes that. (Like Oikawa and Atsumu) I love and ship Kagehina too but Kags can be so rude to Hinata sometimes, he always tells him he sucks and etc... But Atsumu saw his true potential and his passion to volleyball so easily. Even when Hinata fails, he told him "You don't need to be that stressed about it." and I think he actually meant it because everybody can make mistakes sometimes. He can/would be a great partner for Hinata, I believe. (spoiler alert: and he will be) I'm just glad that they found eachother :') Oh I talked too much again, didn't I?
