I often get questions about how to attach armor for cosplay. In fact, there are plenty of ways and not a right or wrong solution. To still help you out though, I’ll give you a little insight on how I personally attach most of my armor pieces onto my body and which solutions are my favorites! Hope you’ll like this video! ❤️

Literally the hardest part of cosplay is figuring out how to attach everything lol. I always end up with a bunch of pieces laying on the floor in front of me while I stare at them trying to imagine how to attach them

It’s even worse when the armour is like a halo armour where it’s just a shot ton of parts that has no flexibility and is a giant foam casket you’re stuck in

Yep. Recent cosplay of mine I made everything, and then slowly realized that I not only have to attatch this all now, but I also have to do it in a way that fits well on my body and doesn't put unnecessary stress on the outfit itself.

@@danieleasterling5325 You also have to consider that it disassembles easily packs neatly into the luggage or container you're using. This video is definitely a good primer for the beginner cosplay, full body armour. Well done!

I love velcro but just make sure that the soft part is always towards your body. Even if you think I won't get to your skin it can rub up fabric faster as the other way around. if the fabric is thin enough it still gets to your skin and that is very painful and the skin whill look irritated af

You mentioned D rings to help with sizing and that's such a great idea for bodies that go up and down and change in size. Also thanks for mentioning it in such a positive way. You are such an encouraging person. Love watching your videos!!

I ended up using a bunch of those "belt-buckle-snapon-button" things in my recent costume. It was a more military-type costume, so no need to hide them. I usually just go to a Goodwill (or other similar 2nd-hand store) and buy a bunch of old bookbags for like $2(US) each, and they usually have multiple buckles on them of various sizes, so that kept the cost of them down. Some of the smaller buckles can also be hidden nicely behind the costume. Thanks for all the tips! Your videos really helped jump-start my cosplay stuff last year.

Just a note about magnets, I used them to attach some large shoulder armor to an OmniKnight I made, while wearing it at the con I was scared of bumping into people and breaking them, so by using magnets the attachment point broke before the piece did and then you just reattach it and no harm done. Although it was windy outside and the magnets did not like wind.

CORGI SQUAD! Also, those "military belt buckles" can also come in small sizes! I managed to find some at a craft store and used them to attach my shoulder plate (your pattern by the way! :D) to my breast plate (that I made with the foil and ducttape tip I learned from you and Kinpatsu!). I love them! Use them because a friend of mine used them on a costume he made for me and managed to keep them hidden ^^

Yep, this is a huge help, and thanks for going through these methods! On a personal experience: snap-on buttons can be used for foam boot armor pieces, if they don't have a visible rivet connecting one plate to another, they hold each other together very well, and can rotate, thus offer actual moving boot armor (used this method for my DA Hawke boot armor, the button sooner ripped off from the foam itself than separate, so yeah, it can hold)

Love your channel, I’ve recently got into cosplay this year. Something I’ve always sort of been into, but never made anything myself, your channel has helped me with my first project big time, helped me not to get to ahead of myself and take things step by step. I have found that the snap-buttons are great for attaching fabric to foam (not the other way around). I'm finding them incredibly handy for attaching a cape to a foam piece with a collar or for attaching loin cloth / butt flaps to armor belts/waists. It makes them quickly & easily detachable for washing and still allows the fabric to move and fall freely. They are also prefect for attaching the various totems and trinkets for the shaman in your life.

I'm planning my first armor-inclusive cosplay, and this truly helped a lot! I was already thinking of mostly using Velcro tape on the jumpsuit (especially to make it easy to take off in the event I have to use the restroom), but I wasn't sure if it would be very durable. I've used, velcro hot glue and buckles very useful and also for some intricate part "bra clasps" stitched on to pieces and can adjust the tightness surprisingly handy! 😁

You can buy smaller versions of buckles in the kids bracelet section of hobby stores, because of how common paracord bracelets are! I prefer them because they dont have the risk of scratching cosplays/pulling off if i bump stuff, and my weigh tends to fluctuate dramatically due to my health conditions. If you have lower mobility, you buckle it loose and then pull it tighter like a back pack, from there u can choose to velcro or not, if the strap is long.

I love your videos and have used them for the past year to help with my Mandalorian costume. The D rings are a lifesaver! However, I have a hard time hiding the attachment points. I don't want to break immersion in the costume by showing something like a D ring or strap. Still trying to figure that one out. Thanks again.!

Have you tried purse magnets? They're just like regular magnets, but have a stud on one end and a sunken hole on the other that makes it harder for it to slip off. I use them quite a bit myself. They hold really well for foam armor too!

I always use foam and light-weight pine wood for my bulky props, I made a Black Rock Shooter scythe from these materials and it was lighter than my water bottle
